Man it seems quite surreal to be honest, now that I think about it. But I guess it takes it's time before it really kicks in. Certainly I'm getting older, but not sure if much any wiser xD

One thing that helped me was to start revisiting foods that I'd turned my nose up at when I was younger. Try new stuff and old stuff alike... you might find your tastes have changed.
I've already lost my gallbladder to monster gallstones - it's hard to say whether it was a result of my diet or genetics - but oddly enough that hasn't changed my ability to eat anything so far. I'm considering myself fortunate in that respect. But it was a wakeup call to come home from work and have my wife freak out because I was visibly jaundiced!
One other thought - talk to your father. You've got his genes, he can probably tell you a lot of what to expect.
Life in early 30s isn't so bad, really... at least not for me. I hope you have an easy time with it :)
