So, it's "Banjo Kazooie but not because we don't have the rights to that...". At least, that's the vibe I'm getting. That's not a bad thing, though. Far from it. It looks like a return to form for what the Banjo games were before Microsoft drove the series into the ground...just...you know, with stand-in protagonists.
Hm... so Rare is looking to go back to their roots and make a Banjo-Kazooie-esque 3D platformer?
Okay... I really don't want to judge from alpha footage, but is it just me, or does the game feel... lifeless compared to their prior games? I saw glimpses of BK and Conker in there, though the gem collecting felt like Spyro... but still... everything felt cold.
Honestly, what I don't get is simply... if they wanted to make a new 3D platformer... why not make a new (actual) Banjo-Kazooie title? Why make an entirely new IP?
Honestly, I don't have high hopes for this game, really... most of Rare's talent jumped ship when they sold out to Microsoft and they haven't made a particularily good game ever since. I suppose Rare is free to do whatever now that Microsoft gave up on their shitty Kinect peripheral, so they're not making Rare produce shovelware for it...
...kind of sad, really... Rare was once such an amazing gaming company. Now they're a worthless shell of their former selves, purpose completely taken away from them by the Borg-like entity that is Microsoft.
This should be good ^-^ Rare were great back in the day. Sucks that Microsoft has been running one of Britain's best games developers into the ground. (see also lionhead and bizarre creations)
I wonder if they'll get Chris Seavor (Voice of Conker and I think producer of Bad Fur Day) in on it, he's been making indie games recently.
All I think of when someone mentions Rare in the last few years is This
Most of the devs who developed Rare classics left quite a while ago. Regardless, this does feel like the kind of game we should have gotten a decade ago.

I'm just friends with a few ex, and current RARE employees who are working on this project outside of work. This isn't OFFICIAL Rare stuff. O:
Even so... we'd really have to wait and see here.
