A sudden, horriffic realization...

I was recently thinking about adult cartoons- not like porn, but like South Park or the Adult Swim shows- and I realized something.
They're all, for the most part, cynical.
They all seem to carry the belief, whether subtle or blatant, that the world sucks, humanity is a big failure, and that happiness=stupidity.
Is it possible to get a Western animated show with a teenage or up rating, that is actually optimistic at heart?
Misery and misanthropy should not be the only forms of quality adult humor.
(Sorry, just needed to vent.)

It's been two years since you posted this but even today it still rings true. Adult entertainment is still filled with cynicism, pessimism and schadenfreude. Explains why so many turn to MLP (not a brony here). It also gives me the feeling that in the end, we're all forced to make and find our own happiness - reject the MSM and its cookie cutter cartoons - make your own stories. Design your own characters. Make your own happy ending. At least, all that sounds good on paper...
