Hc Svnt Dracones: Furries in Spaaaaaaaaaaaace! (Tabletop)
So, thanks to a post on
D20 (http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/6506774/), I found a neat little RPG called Hc Svnt Dracones ("Here be Dragons" in Latin).
As soon as I saw a video on it, I went ahead and bought it since I knew I sorta... had to. Basically, the setting is post-human, with different species of anthropomorphic animals surviving their seemingly dead creators, leaving the decimated Earth to found colonies in space.
I have only done a very, veeeeeeery cursory flip through the pdf thus far, but the game's setting reminds me a lot of Eclipse Phase, a setting I thoroughly enjoy, with a major focus on playing as any furry character you want to.
The character creation, at least in terms of choosing your species, is pretty straight-forward, allowing you to pick from a handful of Families and Species to customize your character including:
Canidae (Dog, Fox, Wolf, Coyote, Jackal)
Felidae (Cat, Cheetah, Cougar, Lion, Tiger)
Avialae (Bird, Eagle, Hawk, Crow)
Reptillia (Lizard, Alligator, Gecko, Iguana, and snake under special conditions)
Mustelidae (Weasel, Otter, Skunk, Badger, Wolverine)
Unfortunately, no rodents in the base game, but hey, that's still not a bad selection. You can even go on to customize them with "Morphisms" such as having an odd fur-pattern, being a taur, or my favorite: Microism. Yep, Microism. Like I said, I had to buy this game.
Looking forward to sitting down and reading this one when I get around to it. While I think I might stick with Eclipse Phase as my main sci-fi game, this one is certainly worth the look and I think it'd be a blast to play with other furries. ^^
Oh! Also, the game is currently Pay What you Want with a suggested price of $3.00 for a PDF copy, so its not even a spendy one!
Oh, and here's some links if you wanna check it out yourself:
