Well, it doesn't looks much like just a backstory, but more like a big story of actual Zu's life, with some specific details in it and all. Quite breathcatching, I can say. Though not like I can understand every single point as with my language knowledge some points i've been hardly understanding(and some I skipped to avoid my nerves to be hurt as some violent scenes I'm for sure not enjoying), but all to all, it seems to be pretty good.
