HELLO ELLO
I'm
, a huge fan of dnb and all of it's offshoots. I am not a musician myself, just an artist, listener, and appreciator of good tunes. This account hadn't been updated in years, and many thanks go out to the admins and whoever else helped me get in here.
I've left the profile mostly intact, but have otherwise cleaned out the journals and submissions. It's time to start fresh.
So, my fellow DNB lovers, what would you like to see from this account?
FA+

Btw new albums from Xilent and The Qemists announced, heavy stuff incoming ;)
that would be very much appreciated!
it is my most favorite <3

yup yup! i'm a huge fan, actually.
Then I noticed that no one really updates the page.
But what I would like to see, rather than just a list of new songs added every 20 minutes, is a page all about drum and bass.
Besides tutorials and how to videos and such why not make this DnB page a place to appreciate the styles of DnB?
Not a top ten or a voting spree of the most popular songs. But songs that truly stand out. Maybe even hold monthly or tri monthly long small time competitions? No money, just adoration and fame. Make this page a place to help DnB Furries to get inspiration for their tracks.
I have noticed that a lot of people on FA here who actually know, and listen to the music submitted on FA are producers themselves. but everyone else perceives our submissions as:
"OMG itsa musi sub.... nota pic. >:(. Probbly not ver gud. [(X) Close window]"
I tried an experiment with one of my songs having a drawing done by Canson as the submission image. While the page view count went up my fav meter didn't change much. And no comments were given. It was a picture of a growlmon with no markings on it. In fact if you search Growlmon right now in the search bar my music submission will be on the top page of recent submissions. (by date)
I was just trying to get more listens.
Just don't add rating options. I'll tell you why:
The same thing happened on newgrounds. Everyone submitted something and started 0 bombing other people's work. Just because they thought their work was better. They didn't vote based on the project itself. They voted down to get their work more attention, while spamming their own score. So ratings and over submitting shouldn't be done in this manner. One of the things I don't like people doing is submitting their entire library all at once on FA. Same thing happens on newgrounds a lot as well. It just overcrowds the submissions coming in. It should be only 1 submission a day but I have no control over that.
I think submissions to this page should be determined by people who ARE NOT producers, but by the listeners. If you are a listener yourself (page admin) then maybe you should help with this. Just listen to submissions and pick out ONE submission per day that is a DnB track and post it up. And have weekly number 1 spots. Where throughout the week you pick one that you, and several other people (non producers) thought was cool. It also doesn't have to be weekly or daily chore. It can be monthly as well. Just pick something. If you liked three songs and think they deserve a top pick then do so. But again the listeners should leave comments on the submission as to how much they think it should be on this page.
We come from all areas where we either have a cracked D.A.W., or are actually true DJ's who buy, use, and create DAW's, VSTi's, Samples, and recordings. Everything submitted to FA is free to download. But we can only submit up to 10 mb's per song. A lot of different websites like soundcloud and reverbnation allow up to 100 mb's for subscribers to the service to stream the music but to download the producers have to pay for the bandwidth. Streaming is free.
Maybe we could find a way to integrate the portal entries from those sites to here, but only for FA people. I am not knocking FA. I have no problem staying under 10 MB's for the file size. but bandwidth costs money. So using portals like soundcloud or reverbnation would help alleviate the stress. If there was a way to get them on this page.
I have been working with Max78 on a new track and I wouldn't have been able to do so if I didn't check the entries in the music category.
Another problem that arises with producers is their perception on their music Genre. I have met several real life musicians while driving a taxi in Denver and have discovered that they all want to create their own genre and be kings of said genre. They just want to be the top. But it is ultimately the listeners that determine the genre of music. And it should remain that way. Producers always think "Oh this should be a new genre!" I remember once I had a female musician in my cab and I actually had one of my songs come up next in my phone's playlist. and she was complaining about how people went into dubstep like crazed addicts without their fix for too many years. She wanted to create a new genre and style of music and, at the time my song for my video game project years before was playing and she even pointed out that my style was awesome. I never told her it was the music that I produced, or that I was the artist. She was so mad that she liked my music. She tried searching for the artist and it came up blank. she never asked. I never told. But she had no real musical talent when the next sentence came out of her mouth:
"I am just going to have to spend that x amount of dollars for this program for dubstep to make money."
(That sentence comes from an artist who got severely burned at a performance. After that night I went home and created another track. I never got millions of people to listen, but I know my style is definitely out there. I just don't want to force people to like me. Or steal an audience like this woman was speaking of.)
I have heard it from almost every musician on the face of this planet who produce music. They think it should be a new genre. When it falls into so many other categories in every other mind.
So with this page.... Make it like a magazine type deal. Just post up when ever you feel like it. I still have this page on watch.
wow, thank you for all of your input!
I think it would be good just to have a weekly/ fornightly, or monthly update on the latest tunes/ recommended D'n'B listening.
I'm forever trying to expand my collection of D'n'B, but it's not the easiest genre to come by decent stuff. So I'm always open to listening to what other folk recommend :)
I think a weekly artist/track spotlight, maybe? we could even start with the fandom, and work our way out from there.
and here's two of his mixe's that I can't stop listening too :3
