Sword Art Online Season 2

This entire weekend, I've been busy by finally fulfilling my long-awaited promise to watch and finish Sword Art Online 2. And to be honest, it's really not as bad as people have been saying. I can see why people hate it by it being less action-packed, but this installment has a lot of emotional impact with it this time. I found myself crying a lot more this season than the last. The plots take a nice twist at times, and I found it refreshing to backtrack to a setting I was familiar with in the last season. I'm sorry if I start giving away clues or mini-spoilers if you haven't watched it yet, so read at your own risk. I'm not responsible for any plot spoiling.
Kirito-Asuna romance isn't as strong as the first season, but it shows up here and there nonetheless. They actually seem to be displaying unconditional love rather than limerance, which makes sense considering they've been together for a pretty long time now. If you don't understand, there's a wonderful tool called Google that will be more than happy to help you. lawl xD
The new characters all have their own charm to themselves, and I like the way each one of them is portrayed. And this time, all the characters are actually strong on their own, instead of Kirito being a one-man army badass. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy that quite a lot, but I always like to see the secondary characters have some meaning in being a part of the story. The first half of the season focuses a lot on Kirito and in his point of view and his conflicts, but later on the plot shifts more toward Asuna and the secondary characters. And that little change seemed to make me more absorbed and drawn in to the story.
Overall, my point still stands. Is it as good as the first season? Maybe not. But is it still enjoyable as an installment to the SAO universe? Definitely. Aside from a few honorable mentions, you usually can't live up to the legacy of the first installment. But you have to look away from the past and live in the present. It's not easy to continue a story with conflicts after it ended with a happy ending. But you have to give the writers some props for being able to come up with a plot to continue on the story. With that having been said, my opinion isn't yours to be copied and repeated. The only way to know if you'll like Season 2 is if you try it for yourself.
