AmaDenchArtQ: What is ‘Blade Under Mask’?
A: It’s a comic project, currently under development by WhiteMantis with the help of Marcotonio.
Q: Where I can read it?
A: For now, nowhere. It’s not done yet.
Q: When will it be done?
A: Hopefully, 2015! When the first idea sprouted in 2011, we had no idea the project was going to be this much of a saga. The script is 90% done and after that, some visual research and planning will still be necessary, but we are really eager to start getting our hands dirty.
Q: How will it be distributed?
A: Online. For free! We believe a good story is worth sharing. But should you be interested in some extra content (or being an early reader), we’ll set up a Patreon during the ongoing publishing and Kickstart every printed volume when they’re ready.
Q: How long will the story be?
A: Expect a couple hundred pages. Currently, we haven’t settled if it will fit into 3 or 4 volumes.
Q: What is ‘Blade Under Mask’ about?
A: In short, it tells the story of Asazaki Nae, an orchid mantis maiko who suffers from hallucinations and constant nightmares, and her struggle to live with them and discover their cause while still working her way to become a full-fledged geisha.

Asazaki Nae is a young orchid mantis maiko, an apprentice geisha, living her daily routine in the Asazaki teahouse alongside her adoptive family: Asami, her strict mother, and Tetsuo, her older brother. Her calm life is turned upside down when she starts seeing horrendous, inexplicable figures that only she can see, just a few days before the ceremony that will mark her transition from maiko to full geisha.
Doubting her own grip on reality and afraid to seek help for fear of accusations of insanity that could ruin her future as a geisha, she starts sinking into her own mind. Between hallucinations and etiquette, Nae tries to keep sober on her feet and succeed in the trials to become one of the highly esteemed entertainers she’s always admired, as the world outside slowly becomes unrecognizable.
Q: Can I create a fancharacter?
A: Yes, you can. Be aware we haven’t given out much info about Blade Under Mask’s universe yet, though. So you might find your character to be off later.
Once we’re deeper in the production of the story, we intend on releasing a “starter kit” for world/character building so you don’t get lost.
Q: Can I draw fanart of your characters?
A: Of course! I always love receiving fanart! I’m not really fond of blatant porn of Nae, but tasteful nudity is okay. Heh. Yes I know, I did it in the past but I really regret doing so. I obviously can’t change the past, but I can control my future.

I'm personally very interested in what the fan starter kit has to offer; if only to see what there is to do.
