Well I closed my Yiffmasters account today. I ran the experiment longer than planed, I was going to close it after 1 year but FA server was down on my yiffmasters anniversary date. O well it was fun while it lasted. Now I have moved back to my Mike-son account, I do not plan on uploading any yiff pics on this account but I will continue with my character Amy and Black Rose.
FA+

By the way I was actually surprised to see Mike-son do some yiff and sure others were too. Don't get bent out of shape that Mike-son's not drawing yiff anymore. There are plenty of other yiff artists out there and honestly art should be paid attention to rather it's yiff or not. I just hope Mike-Son continues with regular art now.
And it'll be nice to see some work on this account again X3
But, as a watcher, it is not my place to interfere, and I will have to respect your decision. Doesn't mean I approve, however...
The only way this fandom could produce the opposite results from what you no doubt found would be if it were entirely commercialized to the point where corporate-owned properties would be the mainstream and independent hobbyist artists like us would little or no role in what gets consumed within it.
For the record, I still don't hold an opinion as to whether this audience's tastes are a bad thing or not (which is where arguments such as the one you addressed with this experiment almost always come from), just that it's inevitable given where this fandom sources the material it consumes (i.e. recreational artists).
When an experiment is over you don't destroy all the work that was done for the experiment.
For an artist to delete all the work that was done for over a year feels like a slap to the face of their fans.
What if Max Blackrabbit deleted all the work he's ever done form his accounts and told everyone 'the experiment is over, bye'? Or if Sean Connery left the movie industry and had all the movies he's done wiped out, never to be seen or heard from again? Or if Beethoven had all of his music burned because his experiment of making great music was over?
If you really have that big of a problem with the experiment and what was done, unwatch both accounts.
My examples were supposed to be in theory, that's why I included the words "What If", and my question still goes unanswered; what if great artists just deleted their work when the 'experiment' was over?
To that point, what harm does more page hits do to an inactive account? If the experiment is over and the data collected, then why should more hits count? You're no longer counting them, no longer using the data provided by the experiment; you can never look at the account ever again and you'll never have anything to do with it or what happens there.
If Mike-son is willing to put aside his morals for an experiment, why not make another new account and draw nothing but Cub Porn for a year to see how cub porn hits match up against normal G-rated ones? I think it might make a great experiment, especially since Mike-son isn't that against re-opening the Yiffmasters account (not sure why since the experiment is over)
And I unwatched both accounts because of the removing of the artwork when it first happened; I feel it's a big slap in the face to the fans when someone deleted their artwork and walks away. I found Mike-son's artwork because of the Yiffmasters account, but this kind of action really turn me away from any artist.
Your question is unanswerable beyond the obvious. If they were participating in a giant experiment, than I think the answer is pretty self explanatory. What if great artists deleted their work when the experiment was over? Simple, it would be deleted. What more do you want?
The pictures were deleted because he did not want to take care of the account anymore. The experiment finished, so why keep up the account? If there was a way to actually delete the account, it would have been fully deleted.
Mike-Son never put aside his morals, he did not want to draw porn. He drew mature art, but nothing that was sexually explicit. Questionably suggestive maybe.
As for re-opening the account, it is being considered because there are so many people who found a nicer way than you have to bring it to his attention that they would like the account to remain active. As well as politely ask him to reopen and re-upload everything.
If you feel that un-watching his accounts is a slap to his face, you go right on ahead and keep believing that. Because honestly, it means nothing. FA does not inform you of when you are unwatched, nor does it say who unwatched you. So basically what you are saying is because he removed his mature art, you have no reason to continue watching him? I say good riddance. You are nothing more than a fap account if I have ever seen one.
"OMG, no mroe pr0nz!? fuk dis hax0r i'ma unwatch him and tht'll show 'em"
And I said I unwatched both accounts; not because of the lack of porn but because of what the artist did. I actually never masturbated to the art in Yiffmasters account, it was never porn, it was good art. Art I liked, art that I felt was worth looking at and admiring. I'm sorry that I felt strongly about Mike-son's art.
Masturbating to his artwork has nothing to do with anything. If you did, congratulations, glad it made you feel good. You favorited YiffMasters artwork.
What about Mike-Son? Have you ever favorited anything on that account?
Out of 385 favorites, 16 pages displaying 24 pieces per page, you favorited 299 mature works and 85 general. And you have never favorited anything from Mike-Son. You did not stop watching both accounts because of the experiment or what the artist did. You stopped because you are mad that there is no longer any mature submissions. You never commented on anything of Mike-Sons aside from this journal, where all you did was bitch that you feel he slapped you in the face?
Yeah, I buy that. He betrayed you, you who has never commented, nor shown any other appreciation for the real artist. He slapped you in the face. You, who has never uploaded anything yourself, and even admit (right in your own journal) that you have the account for porn. You, who has been around for 2 years and the only thing you have ever contributed is one journal.
I got watching and unwatching confused with a slap in the face? No, it's basic psychology. He deleted the art from his alt account, so you unwatch him. You don't have to say it directly, it is a backhanded statement.
And you seem to be confusing it again. Watching and unwatching was not the slap in the face. I never said that.
As I said in the reply before, "And I said I unwatched both accounts; not because of the lack of porn but because of what the artist did." (meaning the deletion of the artwork)
And in the reply before that "And I unwatched both accounts because of the removing of the artwork when it first happened; I feel it's a big slap in the face to the fans when someone deleted their artwork and walks away."
And in the reply before THAT "For an artist to delete all the work that was done for over a year feels like a slap to the face of their fans.
Could you please point to where I said the watching and unwatching an account was the slap in the face? I thought all those were perfectly clear.
Also, unless I missed something Mike-son never replied to me, and I wasn't bitching when asking about why the account was stripped, unless "I would like to ask, why delete all your old art from the other account?" is bitching?
Saying that my friend virtually slapped you in the face because he removed all of the art from his alt account is the same as bitching and is rather rude. So excuse me for getting defensive when I feel that my friend is being passive aggressively verbally assaulted.
But, wow, I never knew those quiet actions that I did with no malice or hate was in fact me bitching and carrying on. What else can you tell me about myself that I never knew?
By the way, STFD = Stop The Furry Drama. It is a stamp that I made in my gallery.
I even find this entry http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/303920/ where Mike-son says
"I cannot turn my back on all 1120+ of my fans who would miss my artwork. Just like I made a difference for that young kids life, Namonis video did the same for me. (Also, the people who have begged me to come back and sent notes I cannot forget you to)
If my artwork can touch so many lives, I will continue to draw my heart out…. For my fans."
Which came just after he said
"Ok some of this furry drama is getting way over board. I am going to put my Yiffmasters account on hold. I hate to do this, but I need a break from all this.
This page will no longer be updated as of today." in the previous journal.
So Mike-son can't turn his back on his fans, at least until the experiment is over?
He wasn't turning his back on anyone. He closed the YiffMasters account and left his main account open. If he WAS turning his back on anyone, he wouls have closed both accounts and said "goodbye." Almost everyone here understands it, you are the only one who is crying that he won't draw mature works anymore.
So Gatekat didn't say "As much as I love your art, you really suck. I understand all the reasons people take art down, but stunts like this put you on the top of my '#1 jerks list'."
Nor did ShadeRose67z didn't say "what the f why close an account its illogical"
Or Takara_Kitsune's "I do think that your reasoning is lame, no offense... experiment or not, people did like your work in that account."
Correct me if I'm wrong, but those sound like the same thing, even worse in my opinion, they cursed and called Mike-son a jerk or that he sucks, I only asked why the art was deleted (and despite all this, Mike-son still hasn't said one thing about it, to me or the other fans), and I haven't said anything like that except feeling like fans of his work were slapped in the face.
Plus there's the people who complained that replied to the Yiffmasters journal about the closing. Unless I'm wrong, I'm not the only one who's complained about the closed account; even if I'm the only one continuing to talk, but that's only because you've continued to reply to me in the absence of Mike-son.
*i dont wana use the word here in the bad way. look my "furiotic artwork" if you wana samples. anyways, romance is the best artwork ever.
