Divine Ancestry?

My cousin has been doing a really thorough study of our family history for years and I've recently learned of her findings.
From what I've learned, one of my earliest recognized direct ancestors is Gorm the Old, the first historically recognized King of Denmark. Now beyond Gorm we begin to go into legendary/mythical territory.
Gorm's father was Harthacnut I, and according to the viking sagas he was the son of Sigurd Snake-in-the-Eye, who in turn was the son of Ragnar Lodbrok (to those who watch the series "Vikings", yes that Ragnar Lodbrok).
It has been said that Ragnar Lodbrok claimed to be a direct descendant of the god Odin. In that case, since I'm a direct descendant of Ragnar Lodbrok (according to the sagas) that would also make me a direct descendant of Odin.
I love genealogy! ^.=.^

The thing with modern genealogy, though, is that it can become really expensive if you want to be thorough (for instance by analyzing your DNA). My cousin must've spent a fortune.
You'll probably find lots of interesting people in your lineage if you go looking, though. :3
And you haven't tried to cast lightning yet, have you? D:
Why yes, I have tried to cast lightning, but that was long before I knew of my ancestry. In any case, it didn't work. XD
And as you guessed in your second comment, Odin is not really related to lightning or thunder.
BTW, if you don't mind me asking, what did you discover about your ancestors? You got me real curious now. XD
Then again, there's the problem of credibility, as you pointed out.
