Commissions, life, and Disgaea 3.

Life and Commission Update:
-Got a new car- had to have it delivered across the country, and the delivery guy scratched it.
-Insurance battle with the delivery guy!
-Minor but inconvenient health problems!
-Registering a damn car in Texas... you ALWAYS need another form you don't currently have, even if you double checked the required documents online first.
-I performed a recital with a chamber group, played a pops concert that was harder than any pops concert has a right to be, performed a classical symphony concert, performed a CONCERTO as the featured soloist with the symphony.
-Concerto publicity: I did a radio interview, four television interviews, and a newspaper interview.
-New students to teach!
-We are completely landscaping our backyard OURSELVES from scratch.
-My grandfather passed away in December, and the family has been having a hard time recovering.
-Cletis is selling his stained glass in a local art-gallery-shop!
-Cletis is selling his stained glass at a local celtic festival!
-We are making our own costumes to attend a Ren Faire with friends soon.
As such... please forgive me for making NO PROGRESS on commissions. For those of you in the queue- now you see why I don't charge money up front! Please be patient as I DO want to draw your pictures! But I understand if you are frustrated with me for how long this is taking.

I don't have much time for console games (or for ANYTHING) these days, but once in a while I get an hour in the morning to play games. I've been slowly going through the Disgaea series and am really disappointed with number 3.
D1 was pretty great. Fun gameplay, funny characters, a kind of silly yet cool storyline.
D2 was about the same. Gameplay improved a LOT, the humor was funnier, but the characters and story weren't as good.
D3... oh my god, this is terrible!
-Why the hell is this on a PS3? It looks awful.
-The NPC voices are all grating and annoying when they used to be cute and funny.
-The main characters are not funny, not interesting, not charismatic, and act like little children.
-The storyline was also "kid-ified" because now it takes place inside a school in stead of in the grown-up world.
-The clever, reference-heavy, laugh-out-loud humor of previous games was dumbed down to silly voices and people just saying things that don't make sense.
-Elements of gameplay are altered just to make it more complicated to teach your character new abilities. It's not an enhancement to the game to force people to buy spells and abilities the characters used to learn automatically.
-Tower Swing, etc. Cute.
-OMG ORCS. Orcs in D2 were chubby piggish guys that made snorting noises. In D3 they changed the portrait art to make them have scrawny necks and bat-noses, gave them abrasive, shrill voices, and.... racist hispanic names...?
What the hell.... and it still got positive reviews... maybe I haven't gotten far enough into the game to really judge it yet, but so far it's a major let down.
