Random thought of the Day

Does this happen to you sometimes too? You walk into a room were people are sitting and talking and suddenly, they change from the language normaly spoken in your land to another and once you leave the room, they switch back. I find this most aggravating and rude.
This leads me to my primary thought: is it impolite to talk with others in a common language were it is considered a foreign language? For example, talk/write german, russian, spanish etc. here on FA.
Leave your opinion if you feel like it.^^

Irony of it is took two courses of Spanish in High School and a my dad's former last name (changed due to adoption) being Spanish in origin! And still only can read and write better than I can speak the language.
