What is a furry? Am I a furry?

NOBODY HIT ME ON THE HEAD FOR BEING A DIPWAD, WAIT, I'M SERIOUS. What is a furry to you? Do I qualify in your eyes? Judge me on the following:
- I pretty much only draw animals or anthro animals unless given a very good reason to draw a person.
- My own characters are strictly quadrupedal cartoon animals. They talk and have people-minds and sometimes I warp their anatomy around, like paws and arms for instance, to make them able to do stuff like.. like open pickle jars, for instance. (I DON'T KNOW, I NEEDED AN EXAMPLE.) They tend to retain the base behaviors and instincs and diet of what species they are, and mostly live in the wild.
- I built a fursuit for myself.
- I like the idea of playing around masked as a character because I like acting and tend to grow 2.5 more balls when my face is covered.
- I don't actually do it out of shyness.
- I'd never wear a tail or ears, and not out of shyness, out of pure disinterest.
- I have a very weak interest in cons, and if I were to go, it would be to a cheap one very near by when there's absolutely nothing else to do and I would not be in suit.
- I don't see my characters as sexual in the least. I don't even draw genitalia on them.
- I don't like porn. I'm not all "lol ew dog penis xDDDD," I just.. have no use for it. It doesn't turn me on, animal, anthro, people, photo, video, drawing, whatever. I don't actually mind seeing it, though. As long as it's not of some cartoon character I really liked as a kid, then I'm like "NO FUCK NO SHIT AUGH GOD NO"
- I dislike nearly all people I meet, ever. I really much prefer the company of animals.
- I see myself as a human through and through.
-I have two fursonas; one goofier and one a little truer to myself, but they're both used to fully represent me as who I am.
- When I played house as a kid, I was always the dog, and I bit people who said I couldn't be.
- Actually, I bit people a lot when I wasn't pretending.
- Seriously, like ten separate occasions.

The one unfortunate thing is that when someone is labeled as a furry, it often has the connotation of the more sex-deviant sort. But I got tired having to re-explain myself to people over and over.
In your case I'd say based on all you've said that you're a furry, but considering your final note says you don't associate yourself with the fandom and your word's the main emphasis then you're not. As long as you don't leave the site :P.
I'm pretty much the same way. I don't go for the porn - mostly it's too stupid or poorly drawn to be of interest, I don't do crowds so I'm not into cons, and I don't buy into all the spirit animal shenanigans. Humans are plenty weird enough for me. I just like drawing animals. I don't usually call myself a furry just because I'm not into labels, but I figure if someone wants to call themself one, then the definition is whatever they want it to be. It's not like there's a DNA test you have to pass to be counted.
If you can answer "yes" to the above questions, then you are a furry!

If you don't feel like you are an animal, you are not what i consider Furry, and neither am I :3
Fursuits don't amount to squat. I use my fursuits as personal mascots *shrug* that and to showcase my work or other's works of my characters. Like a cartoon, it brings them to life. A lot of people associate fursuits with being a furry and so on and so forth and also just drawing cartoon animals is generally associated with furries.
Ex. A lot of the fandom thinks The Lion King is a furry-oriented film, when the harsh reality is, it's just a cartoon targeted at kids and their families. Nothing furry about it.

Not a furry unless you identify as one, in my mind. Furries are so diverse and there's so very many different reasons to become furry/identify as furry, as well as many different ways to express 'furriness' that it's really hard to define. But you identify as a person and not a furry, so... that's good enough for me :}
And you don't have to find furry porn attractive to be a furry. I'm a furry and I hate the stuff XD ESPECIALLY the bits where some lemur-skunk-taur herm is ejaculating on my childhood heroes :c

I think a lot of people take the word "furry" way too seriously. To me, being a furry is just being part of a fandom. In the same way that you could be a fan of a video game or something. Some people take it further, some too far in my opinion, but ultimately being a furry is being a fan of anthro characters and media.
At least. That's my take on it. And what I've always thought. But it seems the word furry has evolved to mean something else in many people's minds. I'd rather not dabble in that.
Anyways. Are you a furry? If you want to be, yes. It you don't want to be, no.

Furry Artist: Someone who draws Furry characters
FurSuiter: Someone who dresses up as a Furry character
Furry Fetishist: Someone who is attracted to Furry characters
Furry Lifestyler: Someone who wants to live life with Furry character mannerisms
The word 'furry' is like a title of a hobby or a sport. Being a football fan doesn't mean the person is a football. I think the title needs to be a bit more descriptive depending on what the person does.

A furry is an anthropomorphic animal character, or someone who is a fan of said characters.
(Saying furry is all about pr0n, is like saying that college is all about sex and booze and partise. There are colleges where there's massive amounts of that going on all the time, but that still doesn't mean that college has anything to do with those subjects!)
Furry is related to the term "trekkie", just a different subject matter. :D
But then, I've been in the fandom for about 15 years -- since before the MySpace generation showed up and ruined a lot of the fun.

I've always classified furries as people who are involved within the sub culture and such.
I don't consider people who like or draw animals a lot to be furries.
Nor do I consider people who like to dress in animal suits or wear cat ears to be furries either.
I just think you're a cartoon artist who likes animals. :)
And nearly half of the worlds artists like drawing animals n' such so you can't really classify everyone as a furry. X3
Yeah but I think people who contribute a lot to the fandom with dedication and love are furries.
I'm not even a furry. I just go here because my online friends said it was a fun place.

What I think it is is someone who enjoys artwork or other forms of art that have the basic general idea of having animals involved in it. You don't have to like the porn to be a furry. That's just a part of it, but it's what gets the most attention lol
You are on FA, this is true, but you don't identify as a furry, so I say no.
UM... I don't identify myself as furry. The closest I get to what I think furry actually is are my taliks, or my meerkats. My meerkats are heavily based on Lion King style, but aren't really "animal people" (like, humanoid shaped body, wearing clothes and crap). And my taliks aren't anthropomorphic anything, so I don't think they count. I don't think I was an animal in a past life, or that I have an animal spirit. I'm pretty much only here because I'm a xenophile, I like humanoid creatures that aren't human, because humans are boring. XD Even if it means they have animalistic features.
That, and 1) I can post porn here if I end up spending way too much time on something like that, and 2) people actually like it. Basically, I'm accepted here easier than I am at deviantART. People actually want to commission me here. :|
