It's amazing how quick the users of this site can be stirred into a panic as fear-mongering assumptions and rumors about the future of FA are passed around faster than con-crud at Further Confusion.

I'm not going to pretend that I'm not a little concerned about how filled with ads FA is going to become or if IMVU is going to push for the inclusion of a "Premium" member system. However, you all need to stop worrying so early about what IMVU is going to do with our content. Despite their censorship in their own 3D chatroom product, I doubt they'd be so stupid that they would impose censors here. Considering the fact that the majority of the most-viewed work on this site is pornographic in nature, furries would leave FA behind as a ghost-town if IMVU restricted adult content. That would lead to the end of FA and, as such, be a waste of money for IMVU (seeing how they just bought it). No, what they're going to do is keep the content untouched and focus on monetizing as much of the site as they can to take advantage of the volume of visitors the site gets every day. Basically, this site is going to start looking more like deviantART, with ads and premium features.

Is that good? Is that bad? I dunno. We'll just have to wait and see. On one hand, deviantART has done pretty well for itself with these kinds of monetization tactics. On the other hand, IMVU has pretty much no experience in hosting user-created content. I'm going to stay positive and wait for the changes to roll out before I make any big decision about my presence on FA, but just in case, I will be redoubling my efforts to post equally between FurAffinity and Weasyl (unlike right now, where I pretty much ignore Weasyl most of the time).

STEP 1.) Calm yo titties. Research this purchase of FA on your own, don't listen to the fear-mongering being spread around right now.

STEP 2.) Decide, after giving yourself some time to rationally think it over, whether it is still in your best interest to abandon FA in favor of Weasyl (the next-best-thing to FA).
