Narrowing Computer
I have narrowed down my choices in computer. The largest concern I have is speed and desk space.
I am currently using an old writing desk that has small leg space, and barely any room on top for a hunky eMac and scanner. That has to change.
Another thing I want is faster RAM speed so that Adobe runs smoother.
Now deciding between a Macintosh and a PC is important. I know now that choosing the biggest and baddest computer doesn't mean squat unless I game. All I care about is comfort in drawing.
I've narrowed between these choices:
A) 24 inch iMac
B) Tablet PC from HP
C) Custom built PC
I am hesitant on PC for two reasons. One is I don't want to have to deal with Vista. The second being I don't want the distractions of gaming. Should I buy a PC then I will HAVE to buy The Sims 2, Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter, Warhammer, Warcraft 3, DnD Online, Icewind Dale, Sim City 4, etc etc etc ... and I don't want to be distracted from my art.
A Tablet PC would be great in that I can't really game on it, and it provides me the comfort of a Wacom without the strain of having to look up as I draw. Of concern is the fact that I would be carrying it around and I do NOT like the fragile nature of notebook computers.
A Macintosh seems natural. I grew up on them. I know them by heart. However, Macintoshes are understandably non-versatile. The graphics card is welded into the motherboard, the monitor IS the computer, and it's not that easy to swap out parts.
So I'm still thinking, and I would STILL love opinions.

I will say this: you'll have to decide whether you want to make the switch to a PC or not. As long as you don't drop them, laptops aren't as fragile as you think. And I have it on pretty good authority that if you wait until fall or so, the new version of Windows will be out and you won't be dealing with Vista.
Pro for iMac: you know Macs in and out, you're very comfortable with them.
Pro for PC laptop: portability. You'll be able to draw anywhere using it.
That's all I will say. Beyond this, I won't make a choice for you, just give you the better options.
But outside that, A. Because you're already familiar with Mac, and all the other bonuses that come with being on Mac OS.
A good warranty will cover most anything, but can't make up for days of lost work because your laptop was in the shop, or getting replaced. Given, you're not going to be using yours for work, so that may, or may not be as important to you. Myself personally, I'm likely to go with inexpensive PC laptops for us, with Linux installed on them when I get the money to do so. But once I start making enough off it to actually get NEW hardware, it'll likely be Mac laptops. The OS is MUCH more solid that Windows, I don't have to worry as much about a virus getting into my computer and trashing it, or my work. And right now, Mac OS, and Linux both have it over contemporary Windows systems for stability, and the ability to network with other computers and transfer large amounts of data (Like say a day or 3's worth of raw files) without losing any. Vista particularly has issues with this now and again when transferring files between it and another computer not running Vista. (And sometimes between it and other machines that ARE running Vista, though they have done a lot to make it better over the last couple years.)
You had the right idea in the first place going with Mac, I'd stick with it. The only thing keeping me from heading the same direction right now, is the price tag on a new Mac. But if you've got it, (And I'm guessing because you listed it as a choice you do), go for it.

Custom built would be able to run your games if it is a Windows OS you choose. I dunno if WoW will run on a Macintosh tho.
I'm still waiting for Linux to catch up on this stuff. :)
