That said, you have a point. It's actually entirely possible that they bought the screenplay rights just to keep it out of someone else's hands and have no real plans for it. It's happened plenty of times before.
But then I remembered, 'Nah, no one's going to pick up a silly indie game to make a movie our of it; if they were, why didn't they make anything out of Slender'.
