I set up a database a while back so I could more easily find movies I had here. I began to collect about 40 years ago and by chance got a VHS machine. Good choice because a few years later Betamax vanished. I have since added DVD and Blueray. Where I lived for about 20 years before I retired there was no over the air TV or cable available. So I was just looking for something to watch and find my collection totals to 2237 movies.
That is a big collection!
Many of them can't be found any more or never were put out on tape. I am always looking to replace those I recorded over the air from TV with a DVD or Blue Ray but cannot find them. The first VHS I ever got was The King and I; the one with Yul Brenner. It took until very recently to find a DVD copy of it. The tape cost me $100 at the time and the DVD less than half that.
The lengths go from about 1 minute to about 3 hours. Tijn may have noticed the wall of movies when we had him and his family over for Thanksgiving dinner a few years back.
Of course (in hindsight), I might well have expected a librarian to have a library
Apart from books and media, I appreciated the artworks. There are some very fine pieces on that wall.
