Car Help/Advice

My 2¢ Worth (5¢ in Canada)
Hello folks,
I'm just asking for some advice out there... my car has finally "done its thing", and the transmission has died in it, albeit 14784 miles before hitting my goal of 300K miles on it. It does have some issue with the CV joint, but I'm fair sure the internals in the transmission are quite shot, although I won't have that confirmed until I start getting into it and seeing what's what. Despite what's going on with the CV, that shouldn't be causing the car to be stuck in gear the way it is (unless somebody out there's run into this scenario?).
So, for those of you who watch me who happen to be local, I wonder if anybody knows good places to get a used transmission (with some warranty) around the area, or a site online I could be checking out. It's that point I have to figure out what sort of route I want to go here, either replace that and the CVs and do some other work I was meaning to do anyway and roll on from there, or look for another similar car in good-looking condition with a bad motor and toss my motor in it, since it's still running strong at 285K. If I go the transmission route, I'm looking to put the semi-rare limited-slip differential transmission in it instead of the one I have. They are probably more prevalent in Canada than here in the US, givens standards are more plentiful up there.. but either way, I'd like to find one.
Thanks for any information you may have, and hope you are staying dry wherever you are (wetter than all get out here at the moment).
*dragony hugs*
Those of you asking... car's a 97 Altima with the not limited-slip differential 5 speed, although if the transmission has shot synchros and possibly other parts, I'd like to upgrade to the limited-slip RS5F50V.

The year make and model would also be helpful, if you knew the exact transmission model that would be even better to narrow down the issue.
Good luck with it though, hope you get it all figured out :)

Not sure how hard/easy it would be to find the -V- model transmission but rebuilding yours with an LSD seems like a good option if you cant manage to find one

Looking at that site you gave, weird they mention a 93-95 Altima, but not the 96-97... kinda odd. I hate to rid of the little car, even though it doesn't look too hot, it's reliable, and has gotten me through about 25 states and 1 province. Of course, it has looked worse before: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/9088577/
Too bad the Vortec from the truck can't go in it. That would be SLIGHTLY insane, however, if it could.
