Tech Help (please?)

My Linksys USB Wireless Adapter is messing up on me a lot. I got it 5 months ago and around three weeks ago it would randomly lose connection. When it gets warm (which it does after the computer is in use for an hour) it loses connection up 3 times in 5 mins and it does it around twice an hour, sometimes more often. I hate that this is happening so soon after getting it since my boyfriend spent $50 on it when he got it for me as a present.
I can't play any games like league or I end up disconnecting multiple times in the middle of a game. Messing up the whole game for the team, and I hate being unreliable like that.
I heard of PCI-e wifi cards but would they get heated up and not work like the USB adapter? I dont know much about them, much less how i would install it if I were to get one, or even where they go.
or should I just get Eatel (my local internet provider) out here to move the Ethernet modem closer to my room
