I personally never liked that word, myself. "Cunt" is already a pretty harsh word and is often used in the most derogatory context possible for women, so it just sounds like a double whammy for transgendered males. At the same time, I'd like to have a word that's fun in fantasy but not too complex.
I know you've said before that you don't like the word "herm" either. I'm not entirely sure why that word would be too offensive, except that it's technically inaccurate because there are no people who have both sets of genitals fully working. Maybe "androgynous", or "andro" for short would work better in those instances? I have to admit (with a lot of other people) that the idea of having a partner with both sets is a very appealing one, but the last thing I want to do is offend anyone where I can help it. ^^;
I'm not a fan of "herm" for a lot of the same reasons I don't like c-boy. Most people when they use that term, are using it in reference to a person with breasts and a penis. Obviously it's also used for those who have multiple sets of bits (and I like that arrangement too! Both my spouse and partner's fursonas have that arrangement!), but for the most part I've only ever seen it used for basically the reverse of a c-boy.
I use the word "herm" but certainly not out of any disrespect. The only problem with using another term like "intersex" is that it still leaves pronoun identity undisclosed. Some of it is limitations of commonly used English language, but at the same time I certainly understand the importance of ridding ourselves of the traditional binary as well as stereotypical gender roles.
For instance, I have a masculine character who has all the male bits and also a vagina. I also have a feminine character that has all the female bits and also a penis. The terms "male herm" and "herm" respectively admittedly aren't very satisfying, but I use those terms only because it's the language that is best interpreted. Of course, as soon as this changes and I have a more clear understanding of what those with actual RL experience in these matters want, I'll be happy to change my vocabulary.
Again, no offense meant at all with that term. I'd happily use a third or even fourth option if it were more widely known and agreed upon. :)
