~*♥*~ So...I have a tendency of listening to documentaries while I work. One of these documentaries was about women dealing with their pregnancies, how they're going to go thru the birthing process and what not. I actually learned that woman have the choice to have a c-section instead of pushing the baby out...go figure.
But the one thing that made me stop working was two of the women talking about eating the placenta.
Supposedly, it gives the mother back all the nutrients she lost or something.
I shut down sai and stared at what the fuck was going on. 20 or so minutes later, I see one of the mother who had a home birth carry around the placenta, umbilical cord still attached to the baby, in a lunch bag. She proceeds to take it out and season it with salt and pepper before putting it back in the bag.
Ok...
The next mother had the placenta detached and blended that bitch into a fruit smoothie.
Pause again...I yell at
theblackrook and asked if he'd eat our baby'splacenta.
No response for a while...then a hell no, what the fuck.
Placenta eating...yes or no?

There are things called multivitamins, I am sure placenta eating maybe could have been a thing back in the stone age or something, but now I am pretty sure it's against the law to consume human body parts :\
well, just wanted to add that my mom had to have all 3 of her kids C-section. She was in labor for her first for like forever, so the doctor had to do that for all of them.
Guess I could defeat Macbeth then... heh. ^_^
But for us....fuck no. >_>
Placentas are a good source of stem cells and knowing that it does seem such a waste to eat them.
There is/was an HBO series called Real Sex. One of their early episodes had a placenta party, in which the mother had her placenta turned into a rich pâté' and served it to her guests. They even asked the people what they thought of the taste... >_>
But I have seen animals eat their placenta or chew on it and nothing happens to them. I think it's just a whole waste not want not thing. I mean either you keep the thing or the hospital disposes of it.
C-sections. I had one. It wasn't an emergency, but it wasn't elective either (breech presentation). Recovery is a bitch. I don't know why people choose to have them. I had 12 staples, could barely move without crying, and couldn't hold my baby until four hours after he was born. :c Many hospitals are finally letting women have immediate skin to skin now, but mine wasn't one of them.
