Avengers... Assemble!
10 years ago
Sorry, have to do it. Had to say it. Heh heh.
All I can do in the way of a review of that movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, which I just saw the other day, is to say it was wonderful escapism. Frantic supercharged action, heroic rescues, amusing humor, moments of dread, and all the rest showed up during the film and left me completely satisfied and happy with my time spent with it. Was it a perfect film? No, but very very few films really are, or truly need to be in order to enjoy them. However it was a superhero movie in its purest form and brings the comics to life in a glorious way. The geek in me... yes there is such in me, go fig!... loved every moment and twist, every little Easter egg and new character introduced. It also helped add some depth and shined a spotlight on a character from the first Avengers film who truly deserved some light... Hawkeye finally got a chance to be Hawkeye and it was wonderful.
Special mention, James Spader. He is an actor's actor to me and does simply wonderful work in my opinion in almost everything I've ever seen him in. I could listen to his lilting voice read a dictionary and would be most satisfied. His take on Ultron, though different from the comics in many ways, was still enjoyable and fun to watch.
I could nit pick, but that's not why I go to film. I go to be entertained, to lose myself in it for a few hours. Age of Ultron let me do that and I was well satisfied with it. For all those who have enjoyed what Marvel has done so far with their films, you'll likely love this one as well. For those who don't like Marvel's films, you'll probably hate it... but then, why are you going to see it? Go read a book or take up a hobby like knitting. :)
For any who wanna discuss the film and have a chit chat about it or wanna rant about it/have a discussion in some way, feel free to do so below.
NOTE!!! For those who are commenting below, I will state that this journal may well likely have SPOILERS in it about the film, as it is a discussion of the movie by folks who have probably seen the film. If you don't wanna see those spoilers... go play with your dog after reading the journal. Soooo... nuff said and thanks for reading.
SPOILERS POSSIBLY FOLLOWING!!! (You have been warned... dun dun dunnnnn!)

FA+

and
By the way, you did draw the best paw feet around.
*snugs a wonderfully silly Xili*
Enjoyed the film quite well, especially Ultron. Spader was great playing this mad genius who truly believed he thought what he was doing was the best thing to do and being somewhat light hearted about it. He cuts off Ulyesses' arm then apologises for it was hilarious.
Very big yes to the scene with Klaw. It was really humorous despite how disturbing it was as well. I really look forward to seeing him in Black Panther, hopefully with his sonic weapon attachment.
Totally blagging Ant-Fox for the furvengers. He can be English right?
I am all over a nice English accent. Makes the kitty get a wavy smile.
It also got me thinking about how they're going to introduce the last two Infinity Stones, the Time and Soul stones I think. Now, I'm willing to bet they'll show the Soul stone in the Doctor Strange movie. But, I can't think of what they might do for the Time stone. Anyone have thoughts or opinions on this?
I agree that the soul stone is gonna be in Strange. It was a thought I had as well. As for the time stone, they'll probably have it show up in the Avenger3 when Thanos completes the gauntlet. I have no clue how they want to approach the lore or story though for Thanos and that last stone. So much is different in the MCU as compared to the comics.
Current talk/rumors suggest that the new Avengers in Avengers 3 kinda get their asses kicked by Thanos and all have to join together with old and new heroes for a massive pile on in the Avengers 4. That is something I really wanna see.
The bits with Thor's hammer had the whole theatre laughing too, definitely worth the price for an entertaining evening!
SPOILER WARNING!!!!!!
I will say that the heroism of the whole thing this time around was just slightly affected by the fact that the main threat was essentially cleaning up after Tony Stark's mistake. Then again, he was manipulated into it...but not exactly brainwashed into it. The inclusion of one of the infinity stones and the end credits stinger definitely makes me hopeful for an Avengers/Guardians movie. It's sad to me, though, that at the end Tony seemed to be hanging up his suit, because that kind of quashes for me something I've been hoping to see in these marvel films......Tony Stark and Rocket Raccoon snarking at each other.
I'm not a super huge comic buff, but I did enjoy the movie overall. I will say (Spoilers) did Hawkeye ever get to have a girlfriend? I thought that whole thing came out of left field for me.
Definitely gonna see it again. At the very least, to get some....ideas.... =>.>=
Speaking of which, would you like to join the Furvengers? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/7186253/ =>.>= =<.<=
The only thing is, Cye-chan is already Black Widow (Black Vixen):

And I'm already thinking of Padwolf being War Machine. ^^;
Just thought I'd offer, given I'll most likely be coming up with more ideas based on this movie. ^^;
Pads... definitely fits for War Machine. Ha!
It's the redness, isn't it? =>.>=
Of course, you DO like to prrf with everyone's minds.... =<.<=;;
So much good stuff. Splash Page/Hero Shot at the beginning. Ultron and Vision done so well. Hawkeye finally being allowed to be the hero. Gods... poor Bruce. Will not allow himself to be happy. The last shot with Hulk had me misting.
Seen it twice. There will be at least a third time.
The people making "Dawn of Justice" must be pissing themselves. "Language!"
I was extremely pleased with the handling of Hawkeye and Quicksilver (he had an accent, yaaaay) in the film. I loved how they handled them both so much that I'm really sad that one of them might not ever be showing up again in Marvel films. That is a crying shame to me. Again yes, poor Banner/Hulk. Guy just can't catch a break.
I really hope "Dawn of Justice" turns out to be a great film. I want to see DC's universe succeed in the worst way. It just feels to me like they are going for it in the wrong way. I don't like how grim dark they are trying to portray it. Man of Steel was too morose, lacking the bright rays of hope Superman always is supposed to have. He was never supposed to be in Batman's territory with angst and self pity and 'letting his dad die!' kind of stuff. Ah well, still hope it succeeds cause I wanna see the Justice League. I just know that if it does somehow fail, I'll likely never see a live action Justice League movie in my life.
"Whoa ho ho! You kiss your mother with that mouth? "
Avengers 2 was worth catching, and in my case for free. I'm actually pondering if they managed to beat GOTG for their first day Box Office. From the lines I saw building up for the other showtimes, it seems like it may have a chance.
The movie started out strong with a gag that ran through the entire film at random moments and everyone seemed like they just wanted to keep making sport of Cap for saying anything. Have to give it up to Tony for keeping a constant flow of laughs with his comments at the right moment, especially when it came to him and The Hulk.
I haven't read any comics in regard of Ultron, so most of my knowledge of him is very spotty at best. I have to admit that I felt he/it was supposed to be an emotionless shell of destruction, though in the film had a flavor of Tony Stark and Nega Tony with quite a bit of cynicism in how he believed things to be. Not sure if that is how Ultron's supposed to be, but I found it to be rather fitting.
Yeah, just loved the running gag with Cap and as always Stark brings a lot of laughs.
Ultron in the comics often tries to act very cold and logical, but commonly descends into emotional fits of anger, hate, jealousy, and other base emotions. He even seems to take a malicious level of delight in trying to destroy the Avengers and his creator Henry Pym (Pym made Ultron in the comics, not Stark at all). Since the original Ultron had its mind based off of the mind of Henry Pym, who was not the most stable of guys and had serious anger issues and complexes (wife beater, turned into a villain for a time, insecurities, etc). So when he was first activated Ultron wasted no time, skipped the Christmas rush, and went straight to genocidal mania. Ultron desires the extermination of all organic life in the comics, no desire to save the human race at all. The movie version gave him a lot larger of a sense of humor than he displays in the comic... which is usually hovering around the level of dead f***ing serious all the time. He even managed to kill off the entire population of a small made up country in Marvel comics, converting a large number of the dead humans into cyber-zombies of a sort (like the Husks in Mass Effect) to act as an army and begin to attack neighboring countries. Basically... Ultron in the comics is a huge bad ass who just refuses to die no matter what they do to him.
War Machine.
That's all :)
