Not sure a convention like this is the best place to learn Magic, though. Sure it will be friendly and stuff, but the events I saw seemed tailored to very experienced players.

It's a shame too, cause I am a huge MtG player. I have a group in college whom I play with every day if possible. I play Modern, Standard, EDH, and Tiny Leaders.

I recently got into Modern, and I play a weird brew I've been testing with pretty awesome results. I love EDH, sometimes play Standard (I tossed together my take on budget UW heroic on game day because I wanted the mat and promos, which I won ;P) but usually only if I have a reason... I enjoy designing the decks, but the people who play the competitive formats are often dicks and elitists (even when they lose) and playing/interacting with them is in no way fun. >-<

I play Tiny Leaders, too! It is the only kind of 1v1 constructed in my playgroup that sometimes crops up. We have seen some crazy things heh.

Lately, though, cube draft and chaos draft have been our activities of choice. When Modern Masters 2015 comes out, we will draft that, too. :3!

That sounds like tons of fun! Heh, I play a ton of edh, and I did the same with my standard deck, just building SUPER BUDGET red voltron. I play Varolz, the Scar-Striped for tiny leaders, Zedruu, Yisan, and Scion of the Ur-Dragon in edh. :3

Edit: Oh, and I play modern Auras. Its evil.

Scion was my first EDH general. I've built a number of crazy decks using him. <333 He'll always hold a special place in my heart.

My Tiny Leaders general is Doran. <3 My loser friend uses Geist of Saint Traft. >:c Both decks are so disgustingly good. X3

I don't know whay to sideboard yet. I'm kinda new to modern. I seem to win every nearly every game one so far. Don't know what my bad matchups are. :c

I currently only have 3 EDH decks. But I have a few I can toss together if I want. I only always keep my two main ones around. The reason I have a third currently is my LGS's $25 budget EDH deck challenge I took. :3

I don't generally like 1 on 1 games, as I think they crush the spirit of MTG's most casual format. Every once in a while when my playgroup wants to build cut-throat style for 1v1, we toss together Tiny Leaders decks.

Mostly we've been doing more draft and cube draft than EDH lately, though...

Damia and Animar or even an upgrade to Edric would all be pretty nasty. I recall an EDH tournament was scheduled? I hope it isn't 1v1. Is there someone I can ask about that?

Well I'm hoping the tournament will be in something like 4-man pods instead of 1v1. I'm hoping so. I don't doubt some loser combo player will win tho. ;c
I have been trained for years now to 100% look down on infinite combos as win conditions. We look down on cheesy things like Exsanquinate and Tooth and Nail also.

Well if that's the case someone should probably be running an anti-combo deck to punish them x3

I'll be going to Fur The More too :3 will be my first time there and my second ever furcon, first was Furry Fiesta in Texas.

It will be my second con ever also! Not just furcon but con in general. The only other I have been to was AC last year.
