I now officially have a master's degree in archaeology and am officially unemployed.

Right now I'm working as a guide in a local paleonthology-themed park (to augment the wide-spread misconception that archaeologists study dinosaurs. Actually not). Later on I'll see, probably just like most people with a master's degree I'll work at mcdonalds... Right on!

Have you considered getting a extra quick engineering basic diploma? Its not much, but I prevents you from rotting away as a McDonalds manager.

That'd be more years of study and, most of all, more university taxes which (at least in Italy and in my city) are quite... taxing.
