I like how American employers think that new employees aren't entitled to any holiday time.

He just started like, last week.

According to friends I know, that wouldn't really matter, since many employees are entitled to nearly nothing until a year on the job. It probably varies a lot from state to state, though.

Vacation time for me begins to accrue at a set number of hours per week, plus some hours immediately available at hire. But AC is also coming up soon, so I want to make sure I'll have enough for that as well. I guess it's more an issue of not wanting to take time off so close to being hired, and that it won't be as fun without being able to suit there. :(

Oh yes, AC is creeping up pretty fast, so I can see that's an issue. Hopefully it's something you only have to do once!

Once I've stuck around a couple of months I'm sure it won't be a big deal. Guess that's a problem with wanting to make a good impression with employer!

Let's hope it does.

The best impression I made on a new employer was when I ended up with chicken pox one day before I was due to start. They just pushed back my start date by another week so they didn't have to pay me for sick leave. Touché!
