I find it hard to support artists on that site. because all you're doing is paying for there personal work. but with that being said, I do support artists that make games or videos. with these at least it feels like you're getting stuff out of it too.
I can't speak for others, but the few I support end up being those I either know personally or want to know personally. If I'm glad that person exists, and their being or their art has helped me in the past, I try to throw some dollars their way.
I try to make my Patreon a unique experience, but no one on-site gives me feedback about what I'm sharing. If you do join a Patreon, be sure to let people know how you feel about it!
Not at all. But most of the people who sign up do so because they love me and want me to continue doing personal work.
Patreon isn't created to give people what they want. It's created to give people a means to help artists do what THEY want. Like the other comments say, if you don't trust an artist to take his own personal matters seriously, I wouldn't consider contributing to him.
