It's a free app, I haven't used it enough to really notice any drawbacks. Mostly I just text chat with it. There is an option to take and send video in the app so voice and video capabilities are there but I didn't notice an option for any live video chat. After the novelty wore off of that years ago I never really used it anyways.
For text it seems great, I personally prefer the telegram app a lot more but kik is much more popular for some reason.
I don't hardly use communication programs, outside of Email and FA or IB. I almost never have the time to sit and chat, and when I do, it's like no one is awake or available.
I almost never just sit and chat, I pause whatever I'm doing to read and reply then continue with my primary task. That's the beauty of having these programs in a phone, they don't stop you from doing something else. Only a few minutes ago I was holding two conversations while changing the laundry over.
Skype has always been a struggle to use for me. It never sends me notifications and is force closing all the time, then it froze when I was trying to log in and it asked if I wanted some kind of second layer of protection and tried to get me to log into a windows live account which I don't know the password for but now it won't let me get around it. Then every time you change your password you have to come up with a totally new password that you've never used before which sucks because I try to keep stupid things that don't matter under one password but this thing has some random ass password that I have no clue and any password I try to change it to to follow my pattern, I've already used before because I'm always forgetting the password and it's always logging me out so I need them to reset my password again. This is the only program I have this problem with, I hate it and I think it's garbage. The only reason I started to use it was because I was deployed to Qatar and wanted a way to call home, and it sucked for that too, poor quality and constantly dropping the calls. Done with it.
Yeah. We had phones at Camp Patriot in Kuwait and my mother still worked for the Govt at that time so I could place a DSN call straight to her office, but I understand your frustration. At least there's FA. ;)
Also, Hi Torn =^.^=
How does it work? Does it cost anything? Are there draw backs? I'm curious =^.^=

I really like birds, even owls, in spite being a rabbit.
