UPDATE: My house caught on fire.
Hello everyone. So, just got back from BLFC. Absolutely amazing con. I am so glad my friends peer-pressured me into going. However, that isn't the point of this journal, unfortunately. On day zero of the con, my roommate called me from Washington to inform me that an (assumed) electrical fire had taken place. My house still stands and everyone is okay, including our doggy, but all of my possessions and much of my original artwork have been badly damaged by smoke. (Some salvageable, some not.) I am currently living in a hotel room for a good while until we can all find a place to go to that renter's insurance will cover. Much work needs to be done, including clearing the entire house of our possessions for restoration, cataloging, and/or disposal so the restoration team can begin working. The damage was quite severe and renovations are expected to take 6-12 months. As such, I'd like to address a few concerns regarding my valued watchers:
Future Submissions:
Not all of my artwork has been destroyed, but a lot of originals are probably damaged beyond repair. My art supplies may or may not be salvageable, and my studio is now unusable until further notice. A small amount of supplies and one sketch book of mine were spared because I brought them with me to Nevada, so I am still able to do simple sketches, but complex graphite work is suspended until I can get that all back on its feet. I am hoping to still make new submissions in time, but it may be a long time before you see any new artwork from me. I will, of course, be very busy with all else that needs to be done.
Art-for-Models:
Thanks all of you who sent me pictures for the "Art-for-Model" program. I realize I have not done any new ones in a good while. This is because I was working on new graphite pieces, the progress on which has now been completely lost. Rest assured, I still have your pictures (My laptop was safe with me when the fire hit) and plan to do your drawings, but it will be at least several months before I can work on these again. You are all documented and listed on my computer, about 5-8 still without a sketch. You are on my mind and I thank you for your patience. Your drawings will be completed, I just can't say when.
How am I doing?:
I am surprised at how easily I have taken this news, actually. Anyone who might be concerned, don't be. For reasons I'll spare the details on, I am a wolf who's endured emotional pain much more intense than this on a lifelong basis, so I am quite toughened against problems such as these. My possessions were of value to me, yes, but what you can possess is nowhere near as valuable as what you can experience. Our personal fortresses are not, and should not be the keystone of our prosperity in life. The people I love were unharmed, and so was I. If anything, I view this only as one large annoyance with many wonderful opportunities hidden in the ashes. As an artist, it is my blessing to be able to see beauty anywhere, and I somehow found a lot of it in my own devastated home. I will be alright.
That's about everything that needs to be shared. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this, and all who deemed me worthy of your appreciation as an artist. I am most grateful to you. In conclusion, habitat loss has not killed off the maned wolves yet, and neither will it defeat this one. :)

Good luck dealing with all this.
