about time earth got its own flag!

I agree, but there are movies and games proving why doing something like this leads to bad ideas. If it stays on Earth, that's fine, but once we start spreading that flag around other planets, eventually something is going to pick up on it. We can't be the only civilized planet in our galaxy.

well yeah but how is a flag bad? i mean by the time a civilization can travel through the stars quickly enough to get to other habitable planets without dying on the way i bet they wont even use flags to identify themselves~

This is true, but you can never be too cautious. A flag can mean a big deal sometimes. Humans tend to fight over stupid little things.
