So I was explaining how I'm a furry to my advisor last night
10 years ago
Me: So we all have these virtual avatars--
Dr. Joerg: You're the pink bat, right?
Me: Yeah! And I'm a knight and my best friend Kate is the princess and we go into chatrooms with all these other animal people and [jazz hands] we pretend to be super cool when we're really not! =D
And then she laughed, I think she could tell I really have fun with the whole thing. xD

I never know how to explain it to people. I always get self-concious...like...what would they think of me for it. I tend to just say, "I draw cartoon animal-people." and leave it at that...cuz I don't know how non-furs would react. And also...how to explain it to my parents? Like...they know I go to cons and stuff, but I think they just think it's for comics/artists/writers in general. (Well, to be fair, one of the cons IS for a broader genre, SciFi/Fantasy, but...yeah)
I figure if the general public thinks furries have a bad reputation, we should talk more about it to show that we are indeed not the stereotype. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWAH!
