Life/Work Updates - back from the May of CONS
10 years ago
Wooo.... I can't believe it's June! Where did May go?
My May was a super busy one; got a few pieces made, and attended two cons back to back.
Fur-eh
Yes, I skipped Fur-eh this year. Sorry to all my local furry friends and acquaintances who were expecting me to attend, but I just couldn't physically do 3 weeks back to back of cons. I hope everyone had fun and hope to take part next year.
Remember, you don't have to wait for a con to talk to me about furry stuff. You can always send me a note or email if you have any questions.
BLFC
My favorite biggest little con :3
I am always blown away with how well BLFC does their themes. At first I was completely uninterested in the Dystpopian theme, but BLFC did SUCH a good job with promotion and advertizing as well as props and decorations AT the con itself. They were so attentive to detail and fun with their barcode collar fursuit tags (which you had to scan to find out your number), and making an actual Brometheus bear fursuit.
The con pretty much doubled in size from the previous year, which I almost want to say made it too big ¬_¬ but word travels fast and it's impossible not to gush about it to friends.
I sort of wish I hadn't volunteered to take part in some things, as it did mean I had to miss out on some fun stuff I wanted to take part in.
I also lost my handpaw (don't worry it was eventually found), and had to do the parade and dance competition with my temperance puppet to hide the fact I was short a hand >_<
FurryCon
I got home from BLFC on Monday, spent Tuesday doing laundry and was back on a plane Wednesday for Rochester, NY.
The head of the con, Soron, invited me to take part as a con guest. I ran House Avarryn (the Bird house) for their Game of Thrones themed con.
Furrycon is a nice casual con, I barely suited at all, but spent most of my time chatting with people. I never felt unwelcome and could easily join a group of people standing around and introduce myself. I really liked the atmosphere of a con where you don't feel afraid or overwhelmed or alienated in a crowd.
I was thoroughly impressed by the sheer amount of STUFF this con offered. Swag for high level attendees was both great and of super high quality, the Zoo was constantly stuffed with free food (not just granola bars in the corner, but ACTUAL food like chili and hot dogs), and did I mention free booze? I kind of wished I drank, as I the sheer amount of alcohol was staggering. Even with all the booze, no one ever seemed overly drunk either (less reason to binge maybe? idk)
The con staff and volunteers were all really awesome. I felt really taken care of my entire time. Thank you Moriarty for being so attentive in the Dealers, and Thank you Janu for your hard work with the crazy wargame and banking madness ALL con, and thanks to Nimbus and Snowy for being such a big help, and thank you Keefur for keeping me supplied with all the great fox jokes, and Draconis for putting up with our last minute entry in the variety show and Thank you Soron for inviting me. I probably missed a few people... so thank you ALL!
Rochester was nice as well... I did a little touring around the town before and after the con. My only beef was the lack of actual grocery stores. I was really starved for fruits and vegetables (I had to hit 3 different "grocery stores" to find some apples and oranges to stave off scurvy at the very least)
Home again :3
It felt nice to get back in my studio after a 2 and a half week hiatus. I finished off a suit for a very patient customer and realized I was out of EVERYTHING so had to do a huge supply purchase.
I also bought a new office desk and did some re-arranging and decorating which has kept me from my studio yet again.
I am officially back to regular business hours tomorrow O_O or so I hope!
I hope June can be a productive month of playing catch-up!

That paw had a weird journey.... but I'm glad it found it's way back to me :3
I'm sure it has quite the story to tell. :P
Can't do next year unfortunately, it's me and my hubby's 10th wedding anniversary so we're going to take a trip somewhere
Glad you got it back, though. =)
