Being woken up at 1:10 am Tuesday morning with a sharp pain on the left side is enough to leave anyone in a sour and miserable mood. What makes matters worse is unlike before, such pain does not go away leaving for a restless night. Alas had to call in sick that day then arrange to find some way to get to a medical clinic and find out WTF is going on. I requested a packet from my work back in March for med/dental coverage but never got it. I have to wait a whole year before applying again which bites due to that mandatory ya need health insurance whether you work or not.
Back to the pain. Symptoms include dull pain that came and went, at times intensified which was accompanied by nausea and sweating plus draining of color from the body. Managed to find a decent clinic though it was a bit of a drive from where I lived and after some testing and piddling in a cup, the results were blood in ze urine.
Possible diagnosis? a kidney stone or perhaps a urinary infection. The clinic sent the sample out for testing, I would not get the results for awhile.
Fuck me with a dildo from the sun why don't you >.<
Kidney stones alas run in the family. I had an aunt who had some removed years ago and my mother had to go to the hospital to have one "pass." We all know the stories behind the passing of stones. Hellish nightmares that some would consider childbirth to be less agonizing >.>
Considering I am not covered health wise, I opted to look up home remedies to combat the evil little shit making my left kidney (and me) miserable that afternoon.
Found one that worked out well and proceeded to use it to ease the pain. It involved lemons, olive oil and raw apple cider vinegar. Water too.
Fast forward to today and a follow up at the same clinic I went to Tuesday. They wanted another sample as the one they send in Tuesday came back negative for UTI. Which is a good thing. Gave them another sample and it came back clear. The doctor was baffled and I related my story as to what I did.
It amazes me that with all the medical technology and medicine we have, its insane that there are remedies out there that does not come in a pill or bottle that we can use to tend to most ailments and sicknesses.
The cleansing I perform and still perform will keep any future kidney stones from forming as I've read that those who have had one, tend to have more down the line.
Not on my watch.
