All lolz aside...

After doing some research, it appears it started pretty reasonable. No fetish gear in public areas. This does not prevent you from using/wearing fetish gear in room parties. Seems like a fair rule to prevent scaring away people who are new to the fandom, be it as a new furry or a fellow hotel guest unassociated with the fandom.

What seems to have set off the drama is a comment by the con chair, which was a blatant stab at the cub community as a whole. Yes, his opinion is wrong. Yes, he's a big stinky doo-doo head. No, you are not being oppressed.

i personally feel that publicly displaying your padding, pacis, and various cub clothing in public space is unnecessary and disrespectful to both those who don't care to see it, and the image towards the cub community as a whole. If I don fetish gear at a con, I'm subtle as to not draw negative attention for the benefit of the rest of the sub-community of that fetish. If I'm going to a room party, I put something publicly decent on over said fetish outfit as to not make a scene. This is called common courtesy, which is something fairly disregarded at Rainfurrest, but when it's nearly a cub con as it is, in a county heavily saturated in AB/DLs in general, it's not as big of an issue.

That being said, the drama explosion on Twitter was so massive that it attracted members of Something Awful to get involved. This is a perfect example of why I preach not to be trollbait. If someone starts insulting you, or trying to offend you somehow, it is your choice to get upset and cause a shitstorm, and in the end, you're gonna be the only one butthurt. You can't convince someone else that they're wrong, but you can choose to be the better person and learn to better control your emotions in regards to other people's opinions and statements. Don't be trollbait, faggot!
