Patreon for art tutorials
I think it's about time I start giving back.
All throughout June (I've already started), I'm going to be documenting all I've known and learned about art, working as an artist, and making it by being a freelancer. I am very savvy on all of these subjects, so if you want to suggest themes regarding:
My techniques and tricks regarding digital and traditional media
Finding your style
Business & freelancing
Managing on your own
How much you are worth as an artist
Dealing with bullying, depression and anxiety as an artist
or anything else you think I have strengths in, please let me know. I know I haven't been the best artist in the past couple of years, but it's about time I start giving back. It's not like I never planned on it, I just knew I wasn't ready, and didn't want to teach any thing wrong. I know some things won't click with the more educated audiences, because I know my art pisses me off after I read up on fine art, but I'm going to do my best to help those who can't afford an education but want to make it as an artist, or even just make some cash on the side doing something fun. :)
The patreon will probably be 5$ a month for every one, with journals on coping as an artist and an art tutorial each month, along with high-res files of the finished tutorial pieces.
Much love and light to all of you. Thank you for being there for me, loving me, and letting me know I didn't have to give up when I really, really wanted to.

I must ask this ONE thing, if you could answer just this for me I would be very pleased.
How do you draw lines so soft? If you take a look at my art, you'll see its very sharp. I'm getting to the stage of instead of rough looking work, i'd rather show my softer side if that makes sense?
Or will this be revealed in the Patreon? I don't know if i'll be able to do it just for one thing, thats all.
What art program are you using? SAI?
Alrighty, here...

Hopefully this is what you meant. I honestly switch my settings around all the time, so I hope this is what you meant :)
Thanks again!
But you can get a soft look with Water color. I usually use it with high persistence.
If you want to use the airbrush you'll be blending for hours. Good luck!

P.S.: sorry for bad english.
PS: Your english is fine :)
the biggest thing i'd love to know how you do is how you make fur look so soft. a nice big tutorial on fur would be super awesome (and i can safely say i'd support the hell out of you on patreon for tutorials/techniques/etc)
also, how you draw muzzles! i'm trying to build and flesh out my own style so i've been looking at various muzzle types~
do you think you'd make tutorial videos and such for patreon? either releasing them to just patrons, or to the public :>
But I just wanted to say I, personally, would appreciate something like this. I want to get better and be a pro at what I do, but receiving wisdom from an artist I really admire would mean a lot! (And I'd love to donate to patreon for this info as I believe you should be paid for the work you do!!)
I'm really excited now ahhhh~ <3
Quick Question though: Will there be Photoshop tutorials?
Needless to say though, I"m super excited for whenever this happens and I hope I can support starting this fall! <3
I've always wanted to know how you start your sketching, and painting
fur, and how you do eyes. It's so awesome that you'll be sharing your techniques! ^^ <3
lighting would probably be a good topic imo (or more specifically, gradients on contoured objects; getting values to transition/blend nicely, etc).
Like Falvie, your OC. She is kind of green, when you draw more yellow-ish, it gives it a certain warmth? Like if it would e possible, what colors compliments each other.
There are tons of ways to start drawing.
But how do we continue?
One of the most invaluable resources for me to learn this next step, was just standing behind a pr o artist for 5 hours and watching them draw from A to Z. So perhaps, one idea would be to record an entire session of drawing, and let users play it at regular speed. Perhaps, do it as a stream, so that we can ask questions from time to time.
Hope this helps!
I'm glad you've come up with a way for you to draw for you again, I recall one of your struggles is that you were always doing stuff for everyone else; and you felt you were stuck in a specific style since that's what made you popular... this is a great way for you to be able to explore and experiment again without worrying about rent!
...Just dont go overboard with works wif you start making tutorials.
Really looking forward to those tutorials :)
I first saw your work on AtomicFishbowl and have looked up to you ever since!
I've been experimenting a lot with style lately, both realistic and toony, and I've been
a bit worried that my normal, non-experimental style is kinda close to yours ^^;
I guess that's years of admiration, but I'm going to keep playing around X3
(oh god probably wouldn't look at my gallery tho it's old and gross and dusty ew.
Currently trying to move accounts and start fresh with a new sona and everything hehe)
Anyways, I just wanted to let you know how long you've been an inspiration to me!
I am also very fascinated with your facial expression work! ;D
If we can't submit through patreon, will there be a way to buy single tutorials one at a time?
I'll be going to art college soon and want to buy tutorials when I have a bit of extra rainy day money ;3
Thank you SO much Falvie, keep being awesome!!
Edit: oh look two Fennekin icons in a row XD
I was just wondering... will you be doing something like... finding your own way in the beginning? All i've ever found is tutorials on how to do things but NEVER one to help find how to actually just... hold the pencil, Move your arm, do your strokes, see the lines and gestures before you see the big picture ect. Anxiety doesn't help either as it's been quite a ride getting me to this point.
At least your drawing skills are awesome, which are more or less essential for fine art. Not that it NEEDS to be excelent for it, but it's often necessary for the message's sake. And you are improving quite a lot, so you know how to dedicate into things that you like.
One thing is for certain, I'll love to read your tutorials. ;3
BTW, have you heard of Krita? (www.krita.org)
One issue I have is making realistic shading for my work. Based on where light is coming from, I'm not always sure where shadows are supposed to go, and how to make them work for the colors being shadowed. I think examples of how you do your shadowing and how to tell where to shadow based on the light angle you're using would be fantastic :3
If it helps, I use Sai. So if you're able to show these examples with the tools from Sai I should be able to follow without too much difficulty.
