Right,
This is insane. I've been an avid user of both furaffinity and adblock for years, but I've always kept furaffinity whitelisted. I like seeing community advertisements paid for by other furries, as they're relevant to me. When the 'powers that be' (I say sarcastically) decided to sell out FA to IMVU, I simply added a blacklist filter to anything containing *imvu*. If you don't know what the *'s mean, they're wildcard characters. They 'match' any character or set of characters. This means it will block /imvu/ or asdfimvuasdf just the same. I was still happy to leave the community ads, but corporate ads just piss me off.
Then they decided to change the way that works. They're all hidden now behind api calls. That means that if I WANT to see community ads, I HAVE to see IMVU ads. They're being shoved down my throat. That's not okay. I've simply removed my whitelist. I can't sit there and watch these fake 'furry' ads from some company that doesn't even know the meaning.
Now, we get porn shoved down our throats too. I'm getting numerous advertisements for all sorts of nasty shit (pardon my french here, please) and that's even less pleasing. I've now simply removed anything regarding furaffinity from my whitelists. All images not pertaining to submissions, avatars or the name banner at the top have been blocked.
I won't go into details on how to block them, because that's not really within the scope of my rant here, but suffice to say adblock plus should be your best friend. Please use it, and show them we don't want them here. I loved the community advertisements. The feeling of community in a website I enjoyed using. Now, not so much.
