Obligatory FA-controversy journal + other sites

Okay, I usually stay out of this FA bandwagon crap. But this is seriously not okay. I delayed posting a journal to make sure I still felt this way, but I really don't like having to turn on adblock and lose access to the community ads I like so much, but I honestly can't stomach these adult ads. It's an artsite, at its core, even if people do use it as a pornsite. It's outright hypocritical (you aren't allowed to post real pornographic material, but they're allowed to display it; despite (theoretically) filtering between SFW and NSFW pages, they have that luxury for outside ads but still do not allow artists to advertise their own, DRAWN material, FROM the site, that is NSFW.. don't see why they couldn't offer the artists FROM THIS SITE the same luxury as they do random, uninvolved pornsites). Plus guests to this website will see that shit regardless of whether your gallery is clean, because whatever SFW/NSFW separating they DO have is all buggy, so no more showing anyone what I do...
All that said, am I leaving? No. But I am going to try to keep up to date more on my other sites, and if they don't redact this change, or if it gets any worse somehow, I may have to change my main base (though I'd still be active here, no matter what, because my watchers are fantastic <3 thank all of you!)

That said, I'll spare the holier-than-thee porn connoisseur tirade. It's disrespectful of the members who don't want to see it, and when there's an explicit option to not allow it, for an ad group to just circumvent that feels insensitive.
At the very least, they should make absolutely damn certain that the ads only appear if you do not have the SFW tag on, and if you are over 18. I would still have issues with it, but that should be absolutely enforced, it's ILLEGAL. You can't just say, "oh our site code is buggy, we tried" while showing "hot rape porn" to minors.
...Yeah, their ad system is really bad :/ They take weeks to reply to the original ad request, sometimes a week or two even after payment..
I learned that SoFurry actually has artist ads too! And from the looks of it they handle it better, AND they're cheaper. :D I didn't notice before because they're on the bottom only.
Weasyl has the Waxposter browser extension (going to art you've posted on FA and clicking the extension will automatically open a Weasyl tab and keep your description, title, tags and file), and SoFurry has a built-in mass posting feature where you put a bunch of art in a .zip for upload. So they're both practical in the migration sense too.
I'm generally ok with people liking what they may like, as long as it's not hurting real people or animals. I just wouldn't want to be associated with that sort of crowd, because.. well, ech.
as for the ads, you can use ghostery if you still want to see community ads; i use it and i can still block out the crappy ones
