50% Chance Of Nation Wide Blackout... great...

As if the running blackouts for load shedding wasn't bad enough, now there is more than a 50% chance that the country could go into a black out.
Total electricity grid collapse!
Oh dear lord it just keeps getting worse.
If that were to happen that would mean no power for anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks!!!
That is just crazy! O_O
What the F are people going to do?
To say I am a bit scared is an under statement.
You can read more --HERE-- if you like.
Our power manufacturers use to be one of the BEST in the world and the most affordable!
Thanks to the current government we are about to go back to the dark ages...
No joke!
My hubby and I are stocking up on canned foods and will be getting a gas stove soon.
(things we would have to get at some point anyway)
Luckily we have a solar geyser, hot water every now and then.
But who is to say we will even have water.
This is a very scary probability for us right now.
But I am remaining positively naive in hopes that the worst doesn't happen.
I can just hear poor Mandela turning in his grave. TT_TT

I hope things will not go for the worst!
The current government is actually blaming this on apartheid...
Talk about beating a dead horse... its just sad.
Welcome to liberal politics ^^;
I know right?
So many promises they made that just turned out to be lies. =(
My goal is to be completely or at least close to 90% solar dependent with in the next year. :D
Solar is the way to go!
As it is we use super little electricity a month, the equivalent to 20 USD.
But if we could break free from the grid that would be the best.
By the way, where do you live?
And I would like to go solar too. Also, there is a theory that there is a way to harness the energy out in space as well, and send it to Earth. If we ever can perfect that, we'll change everything. ^^
Sounds cool!
Anything that can get us get off of fossil fuels and help the planet is the way of the future! \:D/
While it does concern me, I don't feel like this would be a nation wide blackout. Though it also never hurts to be prepared, stocking up on food and water is always a viable option in any disaster scenario and everyone should really do it.
I'm remaining positive about this as I am not seeing a whole lot of evidence besides this persons prediction.
Sorry if you have told me before, I have a memory like a gold fish. >.>
Back in May while I was on campus it was a warm sunny morning and it quickly turned to 25 MPH winds, hail and torrential rain in a matter of minutes.
Sorry, perhaps my heading for the journal was a bit misleading?
By nation I mean my nation/country. |
The power grid here has been under sever strain for almost a year now and things are just getting worse.
I sure as hell wish it was the weather casing the power outs and not the failing country infrastructure. xD
Hopefully we stay in the "extremely shitty" stage and they make a plan to fix the power grid and get things running normal again. =)
Thanks much Arnon!
There should be a quite a few gas stations with generators to keep the pumps going I hope.
Thought you meant gas at gas stations for cars.
We don't really get gas for home use here, its all electrical.
Unless you have like a gas canister for camping or you buy your own gas and have it delivered to your home.
But none supplied by any municipalities.
Like a camping stove, just Google that and you see plenty of examples. =)
The power cuts have been less though... as long as another power plant doesn't go down I think we'll be okay. |D
