I've been a part of this fandom for years, insofar as I enjoy the art (both as a viewer and a creator) and plan to eventually go to cons (hopefully with a fursuit of my own). And yet I have no friends in the fandom.

Not for lack of trying either.

If you count the commute, I work 60 hours per week. I'm working on a software startup with my best friend/roommate so I can quit my job.

So, I don't have a lot of spare time right now. But things might be changing in the very immediate future.

And yet, all of my efforts to try to find local furs to hang out with seem to be in vain. I don't even know why, either. At first I thought, "It must be because I'm not a slut and they're all just horny and looking to get laid," but that still doesn't account for the 5% of the fandom that isn't just out for a quick yiff that I still never hear back from when I reach out.

Is it even worth trying to make friends? Or is Orlando a lost cause?
