Question on image formats.
Just a question:
While browsing, I noticed a considerable amount of submissions that exceeded the site´s official upload format limitations of 1280x1280 pixels. I know that this is achieved by exploiting what I suppose to be a bug in the file reupload system. However, I don´t know if such action, albeit seemingly common, does in any way constitute an infringement of the site´s upload policy. I couldn´t find anything regarding the matter in the official statements on the subject, but the question remains whether uploading pictures that are larger than the official limit will get me in trouble with the administrators.
Should it be possible, I would occasionally utilize the option to upload submissions with unusual formats (such as longer sequences) in one file, without having the automatic resizing shrink them down too much. To me, it seems like a far more elegant method than having to split them up.
What are your experiences with this practice, and do you happen to have more reliable information about it?
I´m honestly curious.

And no worries - I´ll most likely keep uloading long sequences as multiple submissions in the future, as well. The only thing that may or may not be happening could be me using a consistent height for all sequence submissions, so as to make all images appear roughly the same size.
The bug and its use is widespread, and I've yet to hear of a single person getting in trouble for it. I doubt the administration has any issue with people using it to get around the automatic resizing. If they did, they probably would've fixed it by now. If they decide they no longer wish to allow it, they will most likely go through a mass-resizing first, and/or some sort of warning message to the entire community. No matter how out of touch they can seem at times, it would be an astoundingly idiotic move to hand out punishments without any warning.
Judging from what I´ve been hearing thus far, I should probably avoid posting sequences as unwieldy oblong images. Still, I´m glad the option to upload in sizes that go beyond the official limits exists, and maybe I´ll get into a situation where it comes in handy in the future, but for now, I don´t see myself using it anytime soon - So, no worries. There won´t be any clumsy horizontal scrolling^^.
