I understand that, but sometimes when I see a picture I like, I can't say anything that hasn't already been said. Also I don't know artistic stuff well so I can't comment on the wonderful detail of the gradient shading of the lens flare or...something
Haha, yeah, I suppose so. I'm not saying that people who don't comment when they fave are monsters or something, but I most often get pieces with 10, 20, 30 favourites and like... one or two comments. I want to know what people like and dislike about my art- it helps me improve!
I'm in the same boat man. I often find stuff I like and wanna hang onto far down the road, so mostof what I wanna say has already been said. So I'll fave, save and move on.
Yeah, I try to comment when I favorite. But sometimes I don't really know what to say aside from "Cute!" or something..and then like 5 other people have said the same thing. XD
So I'm honestly more confused over when people comment and say they love the picture but don't fav. o_x;
I can understand that commenting without faving- I really don't favourite many things. I might comment saying I like something but I might not like it QUITE enough to favourite it- I don't know, I usually only favourite things I find really outstanding in one way or another. :)
When using my laptop in my room the only decent wireless signal means putting it on a chair and sitting an the bed.... can't type like that or use the the mousepad So I plug my tablet to use as a mouse & vista /Acers built in "Tablet PC Input Panel" for the keyboard / handwriting recognition.
Favourites are like bookmarks. When someone is faving a work of art, they're not interested in the amusement of the artist, they're just "bookmarking" art so that they can remember where it is. Comments are made by people generous enough to spend the time to tell you what they thought.
im with u on that man, i bugs the shit out of me. hopefully when i get to be uber awesome that i can transfer over to ConceptArt (not necessarily furry art/smut) im totally leaving FA here and start working more professionally. the reason y i want to leave here eventually cause i dont want to be represented by FA. so... yeah.... damn moochers ><
For me it really depends on the context, or the artist. If i love all their stuff, i will watch them like a hawk. If i only like one or two things, i will only favorite one or two things, and not put them on a watch.
I know what you mean, but I am also guilty of such a crime. Most of the pictures i've seen are so good I just can't that words to describe it, thus I fave and ehehe don't say anything, I really need to break that habit. Myself would like to get comments about my work.
When I fave something is because I like the art itself. I can't always think of something to say on a piece so its look and I'm like wow! Can't think of anything to write though
*shrugs* I like faves - it tells me that people enjoy what I'm doing. If they've got something to say, that's great too, but I'm good either way.
I fave a lot of stuff without commenting, because all I really have to say is "ooo thats purdy". That's just a waste, I think. If I have something useful to say, like if I really like a particular aspect of the picture (the expressions, the shading, whatehaveyou), then I'll comment - but if not I like to think that by faving a piece that I'm making the "comment" that I like the work.
I fav if a piece gets my attention, if I like it, or if it's technically neat. But I try not to comment if I've nothing intelligent to say. Really I only comment if a piece makes me think, and only if my comment might actually add something. TBH, I wish more people would do this: who wants a comments thread full of one-word replies and murrs? It'd be a disservice to the artist.
The thing that confuses me is when someone watches me, and I go to their page and their favourites list/gallery is full of things that are entirely unlike what I write, like snuff or vore or gay stuff. These days I ask anyone who watches me if there was anything in particular they liked.
A lot of times I'll fave a pic to I'll be able to find it later and comment, mainly when I'm feeling too sleepy to comment with anything more poetic than 'cool, I like.,'
To be honest I hardly comment on anything any more. I've gotten yelled at too many times for not being unwaveringly positive about everything. Artists will even outright say they want criticism and then snap at people when they actually receive it. It's not worth dancing around any longer.
I don't blame you for stopping. A lot of people are so incredibly picky about what people say that there's no point in even trying to leave feedback since you're going to get flamed anyway. Not all of us are like that, though. D:
I don't like doing it, but if it's 3am and if checking FA messages is the last thing I do before bed, then it gets a fav before I clear the days submissions. Better something than nothing.
Yeah this bothers the shit out of me. I get precious few comments compared to favorites, and I'm really trying to improve my art. It's frustrating. I almost always comment on pictures that I favorite. The only times I really don't are when the picture has a boatload of comments already or I don't see the artist responding to any of them.
I'm sorry it bugs you. I don't use it as a comment. Rather, I use favorites as bookmarking. Generally, if an artist asks for no favs without comments, I never fav anything by them... and then I can never think of looking up any pieces I like of theirs again. :P

Love it. /sarcasm off.
