It was the strangest thing. They look like totally normal red grapes, but they taste like intense strawberry.
I guess they were born this way, but how, I have no idea!

An utterly unpronounceable fruit in Cuba, t'was round, brown and hairy on the outside and redish on the inside, it tasted like a VERY sweet mix of chewing gum and papaya but with the texture of a pear, it was so sweet it was hard to swallow.

Yeah, I've been trying to remember the name, I reckon it is this one https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pouteria_sapota but the color seems to be a bit off from what I remember, oh well. "El Mamey" really sweet little bugger, there is also a Guanabana (I reckon) which is sorta' acidic =)

Would probably have to be dragonfruit, it didn't have much of a flavor so I added a little sugar on it.
Ugh I've also had some cherries that were spicy for some reason, the rest in the bag were fine though.

I'll second Durian as the most bizarre fruit - and most hideously awful - fruit I've ever consumed.

...then a housemate acquired durian jam just about the time some website put up a scary food challenge, which resulted in my consuming durian kimchi with garlic chili sauce.

Some things should never be attempted. I'm still psychologically damaged from that experience.

I can't imagine what it must be like to finish *any* portion of Durian. We only had the thing open for a couple of minutes before throwing it outside.

From memory, it smelled more pleasant when it was rotting.

Cupuaçu. It is fantastic, related to chocolate, but soar. Really good when mixed with sugar and milk as a beverage. Also jabuticaba, which is round and grape like in appearance, sweet fruit, but with a strong juniper flavor if you eat the skin.

Lychee and Lilikoi or passion fruit, I think that is the strangest I've done with fruit. Well maybe Star Fruit but I admit I'm pretty tame. :X Though grapes that taste like strawberries? That is almost as foreign to me as foam that tastes like truffles or tomato juice that is clear.

Hmm, I don't even know the names of most, but I'd say that:

Dragon fruit, passion fruit, a bloody black berry and this odd odd odd odd odd cucumber like fruit I've never seen that my friend has. It's like a green oval you sink your teeth in, to suck the juice out, but it's so bitter than your mouth feels dry. The taste is like... Starfruit, cranberries and Keneppas at it's maximum bitterness.

Pomegranate is rather odd, and the fluffy cranberries around my island. The spikey red Keneppas, confused with the hairy red grapes, with a white inside tastes just... Odd.

There's a spikey orange oval that grows on neglected fences. Once broken, it has a bunch if slimy red beans inside. It's rumored to be poisonous for some, but many eat it.

PumaRosa or EspumaRosas are rather delicious, and dry.

Guanabana, fused bananas, corazón, the really repulsive banana called "Ass breaker " which is very thick and red.
There's some odd green and purple plums or custard app le thingies. There's a lot of other fruits that I don't even know the names of or how to describe, but... Oh well.

We have a plant a little like that.
What looks like cucumbers grow, then they burst and blue, slimy seeds fall out.
