classic Midway game where you're a guy riding a flying ostrich while in knight's armor and you have to attack other jousters by hitting them while you're above them.
We had it at my elementary school! Along with a medical simulation game where you could perform an abdominal inspection, and everybody would just poke the crotch. :o
Joust would be sweet... if they got the right person to do it. Standard directorial fiddling includes recreating the storyline so it has nothing in common with the original game and putting all the budget in one area (main actor, special effects, promotion) so all the rest suffer.
Maybe David Twohy?
Psychonauts gets my vote for best video game to movie.
I'd fear the animal rights activists would get upset if we used real ostriches, though. o..O There'd be all this controversy and the producer would be all STFU! And make ostrich burgers at the end of production.
I can think of many ways of doing a Joust movie badly. For example, lusing the Top Gun formula... or making it post-apocalyptic (yawnnnn).
The look of the original game makes it seem very much a matter of magic. I mean, you've got Buzzards infused with the Force or whatever... when you kill them and their rider, the rider only grows stronger.
Unless you stomp on the egg first, of course. I always thought it was a raw deal that the -player- didn't get some benefit from dying, too.
Anyway, yah, this could be set in past or future, but I don't think I'd enjoy it much if it weren't framed as magic rather than science. I might be OK with something like "Magi-Tek", though.
There's also a fire pit...and a pteradactyl
...I'm sadly....sadly lacking in the field of game playing...
We was a po fam'ly
But yes, Joust would be pretty cool. =3
I swear to god, satire is dead. It's impossible to exaggerate reality any further than it already is.
Christine Peters: The New Uwe Boll?!
I hope not.
How epic would it be? Behold:

but for real, how about q-burt? :Þ
It would also be (Finally!) the perfect movie role for Keanu Reeves: A characterless square. XD
A kick ass game for the XBOX 360.

I approve.
