Furry Siesta Report
So......that was quite possibly the highlight of my entire summer. Even as much fun as I expected it to me, It still managed to exceed my expectations 3x over. The gathering had a lot more attendees than expected, and it was all virtually flawless! In a lot of ways, it was better than a full fledged furry convention.
To bring anyone up to speed, Furry Siesta is a summer event held by the Texas Furry Fiesta (TFF) Committee (Dallas Regional Anthropomorphic Meeting Association (D.R.A.M.A.)). Think of it as a Party con, but without the actual convention part. Essentially it's a large scale furmeet that involves hotel ballrooms (filled with games, chair/tables, food, ect. ect.), and a roomblock. for guests. All of it lasting 2 days.
For those who go to cons primarily for social interaction, the sole purpose of Siesta was just that! It still had a few events like a Smash Bros tourney, Werewolf, a Pool Party, a (pretty impromptu) fursuit parade, room parties, ect. but it's all the good stuff you get out of the social aspect of a convention without the stress of trying to keep up with panels and whatnot.
Seriously can't wait to go again! ^.^

It was a convention without all the stressful scheduling. Just a big hang out for everyone to get to mingle and know one another. The occasional optional room/pool party, but that's about it.
it was K.I.S.S.
"Keep It Simple & Sweet"
And it was. There wasn't too much going on to get frazzled over, no panels to worry about missing, and everyone you want to talk to was there and not lost among the hundreds of attendees. Entry fee was cheap, rooms as well. I REALLY REALLY hope they hold another Furry Siesta!
I had far more fun here than at TFF... And that says a lot! TFF is more of a merchandise sorta thing and there are so many panels and furs, you just don't have enough time to really enjoy the full thing. But at Furry Siesta, it was more personal and private. That's what made it awesome <3
