My theories on the Super Mario Bros timeline
years ago
Bowser Day is almost coming to a close, so I want to share something. I have some interesting theories on the timeline for the Mario universe, which starts first with Bowser's birthday. Sure, everyone established August 4th as Bowser Day, but surprisingly no one ever thought up a year he was born. I think 1964 would be the perfect year for him to be born. Why? Well, think about it, August 4th, 1964 can be shortened into 8-4-64. It references the original Super Mario Bros even more cause, sure, Hard Mode is just a repeat of all the 8 worlds with faster enemies and Buzzy Beetles replacing the Goombas, but that makes it a total of 64 levels altogether. See if you can find other connections as well. ;) But I digress. With Bowser's birthday as August 4th, 1964, that means he would be 51 now, well if he did age. Truthfully, I don't consider him to be that old in the games. I actually consider him to be in his 30s, which now leads to my theory on the timeline for the games in the main series. Just to clarify, the timeline doesn't really mean the year the games came out, but more like the time the events of the games took place. This is all opinion-based, of course. ^^;
- Yoshi's Island: Super Mario World 2
- Yoshi's Island DS
- Donkey Kong/Donkey Kong Jr.
- Mario Bros
- Super Mario Bros
- Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels (Super Mario Bros 2 Japan)
- Super Mario Bros 2 (USA)
- Super Mario Land/Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
- Super Mario Bros 3/Super Mario World
- Super Mario 64
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Super Mario Galaxy 2
- Super Mario Sunshine/New Super Mario Bros/New Super Mario Bros 2
- New Super Mario Bros Wii/New Super Mario Bros U
- Super Mario 3D Land/Super Mario 3D World
Since I considered Bowser to be born in 1964 and I consider the events of the recent Mario games to be around 1997 to 1998, it's safe to say that Bowser's in his 30s at that point. So that about wraps up my journal for the big annual day of Bowsermania. I had a lot of writing this, and I hope you all enjoy listening to some of my theories, ideas, and headcanons surrounding him and even the Mario franchise. Happy Bowser Day, everyone!
