Life Updates.. :/

So... this week I broke up with my boyfriend of 8.5 years. It was mutual but it still really really hurts and is a hug transition from everything in my life. I've been with him since I was 19 so adulting without him is going to be really hard.
I want to update my character, I've felt super disconnected from Run for a long time and have tried in vain to create a character that fits me and it's so hard.
Can you guys tell me how you came up with your characters? Or suggestions for me?

Honestly... most of my characters I sort of fell into. I've three major ones who I play regularly, and of them... let's see:
One was never my character at all, I got her from another person who wanted me to RP as their child. Ended up getting disowned by them due to a miscommunication and bitterly hating them for years before reconnecting and now I'm running their pack with that character.
The second was always my major story character, but she's as super-heroic as one can be so there's no real connection to her for me. She works great for stories... but actually being her would be a nightmare, her life/death/life is brutal. She has cool gadgets, though...
And the last one was just intended to be a bit part character for a larger storyline but ended up getting rolled into all sorts of things until I just made him semi-permanent. He's ended up becoming my avatar of sorts, though he's really nothing like me in person.
