RMFC 2015 Post Con Report (And Depression)
What a year, what a year. So after AC we all realized that RMFC was just a few short weeks away! The road there was bumpy, but we made it. Though it is now over and I am so badly missing all of you, it's time to sit back and reflect on the good and bad of this year's con.
So, after AC I've got to say it was nice having a much smaller convention to enjoy, less walking, more familiarity with the people and area. All great things to have! AC was great, make no mistake there, but RMFC is my home con, and it'll always hold special meaning to me.
Alright so to begin we got everything packed on friday,
and I, and waited for
to show up. For once, I least I think, we left right when we thought we would. Swung by our favorite coffee joint and on the road we were. Like last year we had a little fun with the North Denver traffic in the form of fursuit heads poking out the window to wave at people. If you've never done this, JUST DO IT, as long as you're not going above 20 mph though, afterwards DON"T DO IT!
We got to the hotel in a timely manner and proceeded inside, spotting a few we knew and getting a little inside info on the reg line, which unfortunately I did pre-reg (Huge Mistake!!!). So we checked in and ended up getting the last Atrium room, best yet, second floor, stair access!
Friday was mostly spent for me in two places; Reg line and Dealer's Den. Not gonna lie, I spent too much that first day... but worth it! Ended up getting a beautiful commission from
, and I cannot say enough about her and
. Always love talking with each dealer, perhaps a bit too much. My other commission this year, and one I am most excited about, was of my character Sugi drawn in my Guild Wars 2 set up. I cannot begin to describe how long I've wanted this, and the wonderful
will be the one to bring this to life. We spoke so very long about the details and I cannot wait to get this one rolling.
The rest of Friday mainly saw me partying with friends a little too hard, chatting up people and overall enjoying those around me. What I come to these cons for really, the people.

just to name a few. Yep, I keep coming back for you guys just as much as I do
and SharpieSabreicon:! Fursuit charades out in the atrium were fantastic to watch, if you've never gotten the chance, JUST DO IT!
Saturday was probably the most interesting of the days, and certainly the most eventful. The parade, the Fursuit games, adult charades, and so much more. Including a wonderful dance that is probably the source of why I came home sore, but certainly not regretting it! Saturday however was not all well with everyone, but I do hope we helped to make it better for one such individual that night. Anytime you need someone to talk to, you know we're always there
We also met someone quite new to the fandom,
, and welcomed him with open arms. He shared his story with us and we decided to show him what this convention was truly about. I suppose he must have liked it cause he came back the next day and officially joined the fandom!
Needless to say, sleep was welcome that night and we, after an excursion to find the only place open after 10pm in the area, we quickly found our heads on our beds to slumber and await the next day.
Now then, Sunday, was the day that a lot of people do not look forward to as it means the con is ending. For us though we managed to remain till Monday so that wasn't so much the case for us. However, it did allow me to meet a long time friend of our group
and I have to say, I hate not having more time with him. Amazing guy really, Kip, dude we gotta hang out more often sometime soon!
Most of Sunday though was spent in the Olypifurs' event, which was something in itself to watch. But lead to our little group enjoying the pool and going for some really good Chinese food at the Blue Ocean just down the way. Tiredness was starting to settle into us right about now, but we still had a whole night left!
The dance Sunday night was... well, there have been a lot better. The glitches going on, a band that honestly probably wasn't the best match for our con, and music that didn't feel up to par after a great selection the previous nights. But that didn't stop us from simply enjoying the company of our friends during the night and into the wee hours of Monday morning. We had to say goodbye to many, missing the chance to for many more, but by the time we had gone to bed we were all in need of rest.
Also as a side note, good job everyone on Sunday night in the Atrium. You know what I mean by this.
Finally Monday, the day we knew we'd have to go. Having packed most of our stuff the night before it was easy just loading it up. We made one last round around the hotel, hugging those we knew, saying our goodbyes and see you soons. It was bittersweet but I know we'll see you again! We met those remaining for breakfast and said our goodbyes, made a few plans, and overall enjoyed each other as if the past year apart had never happened.
From there we left, saying goodbye to Denver and heading up to drop
off at his home in Ft. Collins. It was only when we said goodbye to him did PCD actually set into me. It was over for this year...
The trip back home was uneventful save for some wonderful food for lunch. And
was exhausted and sore all over from a very eventful con. As for me, I tried to sleep but ended up unable to as rolling back the past few days and facing going back to reality, work and the coming weeks hit me fully. PCD hit hard, I even felt like I might be a little emotional about it the likes of what I used to be when I knew I'd have to fly back to Alabama and be so far away. But this year, this year I am a resident and am watching others have to go. Not most of them did, and I do so want to get up with each of you whenever we can.
Now here I sit still going back over what all we did, I left so much out of this, but there was too much to tell really. The only bad notes were the staff at the hotel being somewhat unfriendly, though certainly a group of them were great don't get me wrong. Also the organization that is usually there didn't feel quite so strong this year. Maybe it was just a lingering feeling but it was there.
However, even this cannot dampen what a wonderful con it was. Nor can it ever keep me from saying I can't wait to go back! Con season is probably over for me this year, but it placed my eyes forward towards 2016, and quite big plans. If I get my way then RMFC 2016 might mark my first suiting year. Wish me luck and aid me in anyway you can with that!
Happy RMFC 2015 everyone, see you sooner than 2016 I hope!
