Major downer.

Surprise, I'm not dead.
I don't think most people appreciate how horrible it is to lose a job.
The money is the first and most obvious loss,
pretty much anyone will recognize it's sad to be poor.
But the plans one had for the money they had, or were going to get are also lost.
Even worse every time you encounter a reminder of that plan, it's going to dig at you a bit.
Pain you went through, people you had trouble working with,
shoes or tools that didn't fit you right, these are trial we endure, ideally in silence,
only to have lost.
Any friends you made on the job are now more distant, as the shared lunch times,
or carpools are now nothing you can share with them.
Many of us also know the shame that's involved,
A man with no job is going to be seen as a lazy blight on humanity.
It's also the time you put in the job,
every hour you spent working your butt off is going to sting, but at least you were paid for it.
You see every moment spent finding the job, every minute spent in commute,
every hour spent making your lunch.
These will feel like time stolen from you.
And people wonder why jobless men end up so often as violently insane.
