What is the deal with neuter nazis? - Rant
10 years ago
So, last week we were looking to foster a dog from a local rescue. All was fine and dandy! They seemed to really like us and willing to let us foster.
Today, my husband and I were pretty much banned from ever fostering a dog in our town. Why? Because our 5 month old German Shepherd is not neutered, and he will never be neutered. He will always stay intact because that is how nature made him, and he will stay that way. It's scientifically proven that an intact dog, male or female, is a healthier dog. They live longer, less chance of certain cancers, stronger bones and joints, ect. I don't want anyone to come at me with the stupid BS ovarian cancer/testicular cancer bullshit. Of course if you remove those, you can't get those cancers! Same goes for your fucking brain. Remove the brain, and your chance of brain cancer goes down by 100%! ... Idiots.
I'd also like to quickly point out that these said puppies we wanted to foster were spayed and neutered last week. They are just barely 2 months old... Knowing that actually made me feel sick, disgusted, and absolutely pissed off.
In most countries other than North America, spay and neuter is not a thing. Do they have issues with population? No. You know why? The owners there actually care about their animals and take extra care not to let them breed, yet they are intact.
I don't understand why sterilization is not an option. Complete removal of the sex organs is more appealing to people. You take away the sex organs, and my dog/cat is no longer a sexual being! Just a pet! But you know what? It effects them.
If you neuter/spay a pet at 6 months, you are eliminating puberty. They will never fully develop, causing issues with their health and mostly their bones and joints. Females can get spay incontinence, causing them to not control their bladder and leak constantly. They are thrown into menopause, which is horrible for them since they are not meant to go through that.
Increased risk of bone cancers apply to both genders. Loss of energy, more weight gain, and an overall less healthy dog. I know a dog who was neutered at 4 months. He is insanely unhealthy, very overweight, bad joints, hip dysplasia, and he is only 3 years old, and he is going blind!!A 3 year old dog should not be that unhealthy. And the kicker, he is still aggressive, possessive, marks, humps, and the only reason why is because he was never socialized or trained that those behaviours are not acceptable.
Humans that like to think that they won't miss their sex organs are ignorant assholes. If you really consider your pet as a part of your family, why the hell would you do that to them? It's like taking your child to get desexed before they even have time to develop. What you're doing is inhumane, and shelters just love to give ignorant people false information.
Educate yourself before you do this to your "beloved pet". If you yourself are a neuter nazi, don't preach to other people that keep their animals intact because your ignorant mind thinks they're doing something wrong. No. You are by advocating something so inhumane.
Our shepherd will keep his hormones, and he will live a happy, active life. Nothing anyone says will change that, because we love and respect him as more than "just a dog". He is our family, and the love of our life.

To the thing with sterilization. With sterilization the dog has the risks of cancer as well as the risks of the operation. Best is still just taking care for the dog. You can see in their behaviour if they are in heat/smell a female in heat. Only exception is if you are an ignorant idiot asshole. But than you shouldn´t have a pet anyway.
I guess the people who could best fight against this stupidy are the vets, those who really care for the animals. Spreading the truth about this or at least refuse to neuter without any legitimate reasons.
Vets are never taught the truth. You can't truly blame them for misinformation because they are not taught the facts.
ive taken care of over 150 dogs for a couple of mushers and id say 90% of the sled dogs were intact. and we had no real issues.
id never spay or neuter unless its a life threatening thing like cancer developing
