Current Details About The Taken King

This is the current information I personally know regarding the upcoming expansion for Destiny, "The Taken King".• They are getting rid of the light leveling system as a deterministic factor for your level. The level cap will be raised to 40 and you will level up like you did from 1-20 with experience. Light level will now be factored as like armor points.
• There is tiers regarding the Intelligence, Discipline, and Strength perks. Hovering over the perk will tell you how much time your cooldown is on said ability.
• (Not sure if I understood this part 100%. Bear with me.) It appears that people currently holding a light level (level 21-34) will have their starting level calculated based on the gear they have and their light level when they first enter The Taken King.
• Vanguard marks and Crucible marks are scrapped. There will be a singular universal currency known as Legendary Marks. They will be used across Crucible, Vanguard, and Faction vendors. There is also no longer a cap on how many you can earn a week like there was for Crucible and Vanguard. You can still only hold 200 at any given time, however.
• Current Crucible/Vanguard marks will be converted into a consumable XP booster.
• The cryptarch will now sell legendary engrams at the cost of legendary marks. According to Bungie, these will be guaranteed legendaries with the chance of exotics. http://i.imgur.com/ECul7OM.jpg
• The vault storage has been doubled.
• You will be able to track bounties. When you track them, it will display your progress on the bounty when you bring up your ghost in the bottom left hand corner. You can track up to 4 at a time.
• You will be able to collect and turn in bounties without going to the tower.
• In addition to bounties, there are new quests. There is now crucible quests and many more.
• The gunsmith now has a reputation. You can also "rent" test guns off of him to gain reputation by killing enemies with that weapon. In addition, the gunsmith will now carry weapon orders. • Each person will receive a consumable item called "Spark of Light". This item will allow you to boost ONE character to level 25 so you can experience The Taken King content immediately. This is irreversible and can only be used once on one character who is not already level 25.
• You can now select which weapon you want to carry on your back while in social spaces.
• Ghost shells and class items will now contribute to your defense rating and will offer perks.
• There will now be an exotic blueprint feature. When you collect an exotic weapon/armor, you will gain the blueprint. With this blueprint, you can pull copies of said exotics if you, for say, delete one by accident.
• There will be a few year 1 exotics with year 2 variants. The year 2 variants automatically have the exotic perk unlocked and will be stronger. You will automatically get the year 2 variant if you own the year one version. (It is also a neat note that while year 1 Suros Regime is white, year 2 is black!)
• Faction packages guarantee legendary gear/engrams. Alos higher chance to get the faction shaders from a package. If you own one shader, you have a greater chance to get a different one.
• There will be weekly bounties with Nightfall tier rewards.
• You can "upgrade" year-2 weapon by consuming other legendary weapon. Upgrade = increase attack number!
• New raid, new strikes, new subclasses (This is old news)
• There will be quests for your new subclass to let you get the feel of how the new super works.
Also, it appears there will be a sword heavy weapon.
