PC died again

Pc suddenly shut off with a smell of burning wires few days ago.
I think its the power supply or motherboard or maby a fan died and tripped then tripped the power supply to emergency shut off.
My father will replace anything that's damaged but I plan on paying him back someday but I told him not to bring it into repairs until I come back from a little vacation to my masters/mates house because I gotta figure out what really broke so we dont get ripped off.

I can't imagine the motherboard would just up and burn unless the gel supporting the CPU failed or corroded away, so I imagine it probably is the PSU.
Hopefully it won't be too expensive to fix.
